Meet Aidan Owens

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aidan Owens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Aidan , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
You could call it resilience or stubbornness, but it comes from my family. Both my parents are this way, having a certain level of not quitting. Not just them but my grandmother and granddad as well. I spent a lot of time with them on their ranch working and experiencing that part of life. My grandfather also always believed in me and I refuse to tarnish my memory of him by giving up.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My goal is to eventually work with whole animals and local farms exclusively. I want to present different cuts of meats especially those that are not commonly used. I am excited about finding my own ways of smoking and creating dishes in a way that is new and exciting for all of us. Most of all I want to create and maintain a harmonious environment for all that I come in contact with.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I ask questions all the time. It’s probably the most important thing to do, even when those questions seem stupid to us. I make mistakes and actively work to understand how to improve and most importantly, and this is always the most difficult, I ask for help. Asking for help is a way that I am constantly destroying my ego because there are so many things that I am just not prepared for.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I am terrible at social media. Before starting this business I had no interest in and to a degree still find it confusing and aggravating. I am doing my more now to try to take pictures and videos so that I have material to post. It’s also difficult for me to write funny or captivating descriptions because it’s just not something I have an interest in. That being said my wife is a huge help with that.
