Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Nunn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrew, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
As a graphic designer, my journey to finding my purpose was a gradual evolution of self-discovery and exploration. It all began with a deep passion for creativity and visual storytelling. I found solace in the process of translating ideas into captivating designs that resonated with others. Through experimenting with different styles, techniques, and mediums, I started to uncover my unique aesthetic and voice in the design world.
However, it wasn’t until I delved deeper into the intersection of art and communication that I truly found my purpose as a graphic designer. I realized the power of design in conveying messages, sparking emotions, and driving change. This revelation ignited a newfound sense of purpose within me to use my creative skills to make a positive impact and create meaningful experiences for others. I found fulfillment in helping clients bring their visions to life and in using design as a tool for storytelling and connection.
Through continuous learning, growth, and collaboration with fellow creatives, I honed my craft and solidified my purpose as a graphic designer. I embraced the responsibility of shaping visual narratives that inspire, inform, and engage audiences. Every project became an opportunity to not only showcase my skills but also to contribute to a larger conversation and leave a lasting impression. In this process, I found my purpose as a graphic designer – to blend artistry with purpose, to communicate with intention, and to create designs that leave a lasting impact on the world around me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My artistic freelance design business is called Vision Marketing. I founded and created the LLC during my time in college at Indiana State University with the intention of providing graphic design and branding identity services that leave a lasting impact in the world & my community. Vision Marketing is a creative Agency that strives to design reliable content to better equip you for growth.
In my graphic design business, I have built a diverse portfolio encompassing digital, print, website, and merchandise design services. Each project presents a unique opportunity to blend creativity with functionality, crafting visually compelling solutions that meet the needs of my clients. From designing eye-catching logos and branding materials to creating user-friendly websites and engaging merchandise, I take pride in delivering high-quality design work that resonates with audiences across various platforms.
As I look towards the future, I am particularly excited about expanding my design services into the music & food industry. Both the music & food industry offers a rich canvas for creative expression, where design plays a crucial role in shaping brand identity, packaging, and overall customer experience. I envision collaborating with restaurants, food brands, and culinary entrepreneurs to elevate their visual presence and create memorable designs that reflect the essence of their offerings. Whether it’s designing menu layouts, packaging labels, or online platforms, I am eager to bring a fresh perspective and innovative design solutions to the food industry.
I recently had the opportunity of working with the Hart House which is a vegan based startup chain that is founded by comedian Kevin Hart. I had the honor of designing the single cover art and marketing assets for a song called “Hart House” by artists R6drick. This song was in partnership with Hart House so the song will be curated in a playlist that features other original singles used as background music in all Hard House locations for customers to enjoy while eating their 100% plant based meals.
The Hart House has grown to four locations in the Los Angeles County just in the last year. I see this expansion as an opportunity to combine my love for graphic design with my appreciation for food and culinary arts. By infusing my designs with elements that evoke the sensory experience of food, I aim to create visually enticing and immersive brand experiences that resonate with food enthusiasts and consumers alike. With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the industry’s nuances, I am eager to embark on this new chapter of growth and creativity.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Embarking on a graphic design journey is a path filled with challenges, growth opportunities, and moments of self-discovery. In this creative field, three key elements played a significant role in shaping my journey are consistency, remaining a student of the craft, and overcoming imposter syndrome. These pillars not only influence the quality of work I produced but also defined my designer mindset, approach, and resilience in the face of obstacles. By embracing these three pillars as guiding principles, designers can navigate challenges, unlock their full potential, and thrive in a field that demands creativity, resilience, and a growth mindset. I believe when designers embark on this journey of self-discovery and creative exploration, they have the opportunity to harness the power of consistency, learning, and self-belief to create impactful and meaningful design work that resonates with audiences and leaves a lasting impression on the design industry.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The book ‘Think and Grow Rich, A Black Choice’ holds a profound impact on my personal development, this book offered a transformative narrative that resonates with the unique experiences and aspirations of the Black community. Through its empowering lessons on success, mindset, and wealth-building, the book not only inspired self-belief and confidence in me but also instilled a sense of purpose and determination as a young Black creative. By embracing the principles of perseverance, resilience, and goal-setting like many other black entrepreneurs/creatives before me followed showed me the empowerment to navigate challenges, overcome barriers, and unlocking my full potential, paving the way for personal and professional growth in alignment with my dreams and ambitions.
