Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brenda Elizabeth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Brenda, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
I had been trying for years to create a Tarot deck, I thought I would have to hire an artist as I never considered myself to be artistic. I created my first Lenormand deck during the pandemic. Lenormand is a form of cartomancy, a divination system that uses cards. Since creating that first deck, I have published four more decks. I have also created two divination charm sets, and opened a tee shirt shop on Etsy. I was able to release my blocks to creativity by meditating and by working with the Lenormand. Lenormand is a fairly easy system to learn. The simple images and words speak to your subconscious, and I believe working with the cards with the intention of releasing them allowed me to subconsiously release those creative blocks.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My Mother was a Doctor and a medical intuitive. She could diagnose patients them within minutes without even touching them. She encouraged me to develop my own intuition, and it is the greatest gift she has given me. I love to help others develop their intuition. I host workshops on a variety of spiritual subjects related to intuitive development.
I also host free monthly Yoga Nidra meditation virtually. Yoga Nidra is also known as third eye yoga and it is a very powerful development tool for strengthening our intuition. When I started doing a lot of yoga nidra I realized that my intuition was starting to seamlessly integrate into my everyday life. It is a magical and meaningful practice. Yoga Nidra takes you to that liminal space, which is that in between state between being awake and asleep. The same space as theta healing, deep hypnosis, that dreamy state when you first wake up or when you are falling asleep yet you are still dreaming.
In the past year I have been a featured Tarot and Lenormand presenter at StaarCon in South Florida and Witch City Tarot Gathering in Salem Massachusetts.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Daily meditation- this can be so impactful even if you just close your eyes and breathe for 60 seconds every day.
2. Trust Your Intution- if it doesn’t feel right to you, it usually isn’t right for you. If you are not sure about something ask the question and focus on listening for the answer in your heart, not your head.
3. It’s OK to say NO and you don’t need an explanation- do things because they make you happy, not because you feel you should be doing them. It’s OK to pass on things that don’t make you happy, and it’s OK to not explain your choices.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson. This book is about making sure that little things don’t take over your life. He believes that finding peace means accepting our imperfections Here are some of his takeaways from the book that really resonated with me:
-The purpose of life: NOT getting everything done, but ENJOYING each step along the way and live a life filled with love.
-Don’t interrupt others. Be a listener. Communicate.
-Ask yourself: “will this make a difference a year from now?” (perspective)
-Write a heartfelt letter to someone once a week: express love and gratitude.
-Be kind more than insisting on being right.
-Say something nice to someone (praise) at least once a day.
-Find the BEAUTY in EVERY situation.
-It’s ok not to be perfect: you make mistakes and it’s ok. You’ll do better next time. Have no regrets: stay calm!
-Do small things, without wanting anything in return.
-Don’t always try to solve others’ problems.
Ask yourself “What’s REALLY important?”
-Mind your own business (don’t judge).
-Look for the EXTRAORDINARY in the ordinary. We see what we want to see in reality. Be GRATEFUL!
-Live this day as if it was your last, it might be. Your to-do list will never be empty.
-Life is PRECIOUS. LIFE IS TOO IMPORTANT TOO TAKE TOO SERIOUSLY.
-Don’t sweat the small stuff… And it’s all small stuff!
