Meet Sarah Karr

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah Karr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Sarah, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I think I have always known that my purpose was to help people, but I haven’t always known HOW I was going to help them. For 15 years, I helped people with their hair and makeup needs as a cosmetologist before switching careers to corporate America in banking and finance. Ten years into that career, I found that didn’t feel joy, I wasn’t living my purpose, and was getting burned out. I decided to train and certify to be a life coach because, at the time, I needed a life coach and I figured why not learn how to be one, too! That was almost two years ago and I have been so fulfilled being able to help people through things that come up in life.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I started my business, Shine Bright Mindset Coaching, in February 2023. While I am trained and certified to coach people through all life events, my current focus is to help people with their money mindset. As someone who struggled to get out of credit card debt for almost 20 years, during my life coaching training, I learned that the reason I continued to struggle was my mindset toward money and debt. Subconsciously, the things I learned in childhood and early adulthood shaped how I thought about money 20+ years later! But the good news is that we can reprogram our subconscious. In addition to the basic financial skills that are often not taught in school or at home growing up, that is exactly what I do in my online course, Reset Your Money Mindset. My students learn to set goals around money, how to do a simple budget, how our subconscious works, how our habits affect our lives, how to get out of debt, and how to save money and build a legacy for their families.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning about my subconscious mind, how to forgive (myself and others), and don’t let other people affect how I live my life.

Many people have trauma (even if it is something small) and our subconscious mind wants us to feel safe and to fit in with the crowd. While I am thankful for everything I have learned in this lifetime, I often wonder what I would be doing with my life if I had learned these three things 10-20 years ago! Some of my trauma was brought on by myself (unknowingly) by not forgiving myself and others and allowing other people’s thoughts and opinions to affect how I lived my life. Learning these things has allowed me to show up, unapologetically, as myself.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal clients are 20-60 year old empowered women who are ready to transform their relationship with money and create a prosperous future for themselves and their families.
