We recently connected with Deborah Padilla and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Deborah, thank you so much for joining us and opening up about the very personal topic of divorce. So many in the community are going through or have gone through divorce and we think hearing about how others dealt with the aftermath and managed to build a vibrant, successful life and career despite the trauma of divorce can be helpful to many who might be feeling a degree of hopelessness. So, maybe you can talk to us about how you overcame divorce?
Overcoming divorce is one of the hardest life events I’ve been through . My faith and obedience towards Jesus in Christianity has helped me overcome this . When I was younger I was in a abusive marriage and my husband abandoned me and went off to commit adultery (marry another women) . Nothing made sense in my life but Jesus comforted me reminding me that people divorce him too all the time since the Lord is called our “husband” . We can’t force people to love us or choose us , just like Jesus can’t force people to love him or choose him. It’s a choice by your own free will. According to scripture if the unbeliever leaves I’m not under bondage anymore . If you leave your spouse for any other reason than fornication and go marry another , then according to the faith and principles of Christianity you have committed the sin of adultery . Being abused and divorced for my faith in Christ has brought me closer to Jesus . I get to live the scriptures of my faith through my tribulations . Jesus has blessed, favored , and Comforted me . Jesus has shown me my worth of who I am and how worthy I am to be his daughter . No one will ever make me question my worth again because of their immoral decisions . It is truly sad to watch people go against Jesus . I would of never divorced my husband and would of forgiven and reconciled anything according to the will of God . I’m so blessed to be healed by the Lord . Now I get to share my testimony through everything I do . I get to share where my faith and confidence comes from . I get to live this out through my relationships in my life and through my business God has given me .
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have a cotton candy company that specializes in the worlds largest cotton candy . We do up to 20 ft tall candies ! We have over 150 flavors . We can make animal shapes out of our candy too ! We have two food trucks in operation . I enjoy sharing the joy with the community of my business . It’s a blessing to have such a fun business .
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
All my decisions in business have always been risky and all of a sudden . I love to be creative and share my ideas with the community and those around me . For anyone going after their journey of business I would suggest to pursue anything you desire . You have the free will to do anything in life . People will always try to destroy or not support you , but that should never determine or label what you are capable of ! Never allow anyone’s perception of you control you !
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Bible will always be the most important book that plays an area in all parts of my life .Jesus has favored me . “By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.” Psalm 41:11 KJV
I trust the Lord in all areas of my life ; especially in my business .
