Meet Brooke Nelson

We recently connected with Brooke Nelson and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Brooke with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in the unwavering support and encouragement of my family. Raised in an environment where hard work was celebrated, my parents instilled in me the belief that diligence and determination are the keys to success. Their guidance shaped my approach to challenges, instilling in me an unwavering determination to excel in every endeavor.

Fueled by my ambitious goals, I approached each challenge with relentless determination, understanding that success requires overcoming obstacles and setbacks. Self-motivation became my driving force, fueled by the satisfaction of making progress towards my goals. I didn’t need external validation; the pursuit of my aspirations was motivation enough.

Self-discipline played a crucial role in maintaining my work ethic. I learned to prioritize tasks, manage my time effectively, and stay focused on what mattered most. Even in the face of adversity, I relied on discipline to keep me on track.

Throughout life’s journey, my family’s unwavering support provided the foundation for my work ethic. Their encouragement and wisdom gave me the confidence to pursue my passions fearlessly, knowing they would be there to cheer me on every step of the way. Their influence has been instrumental in shaping the tenacity and drive that define my approach to work and life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a micro wedding and boudoir photographer, I’m honored to share a piece of my heart with every shoot I undertake. Micro weddings hold a special place in my photography journey because they embody everything I love about the craft: spontaneity, fun, and an overflow of passion and love. Each micro wedding is a unique story, authentic to the couple, and capturing those raw moments fills me with immeasurable joy.

But my passion extends beyond just weddings; it also encompasses boudoir photography. For me, boudoir isn’t just about capturing stunning images; it’s about empowerment. Many women struggle with confidence and self-image, feeling insecure in their own skin. My mission is to change that narrative. I want to be the one who shows them they’re beautiful exactly as they are—no changes needed. It’s about celebrating every curve, every imperfection, and helping women embrace their true selves. Because, in my eyes, confidence is the most beautiful thing a woman can wear.

As for what’s most exciting about my work, it’s the opportunity to play a part in people’s stories, whether it’s capturing the intimate moments of a micro wedding or empowering women through boudoir photography. Every session is a chance to create something meaningful and impactful.

In terms of what’s new, I’m constantly striving to evolve and expand my services to better serve my clients. Whether it’s launching special events, introducing new products or services, or expanding into different photography niches, I’m always excited to push the boundaries of my craft and bring even more joy and empowerment to those I have the privilege of working with.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My advice for those starting out is to cultivate a strong sense of self-motivation, resilience, and confidence. Believe in yourself and your abilities, even when faced with challenges or setbacks. Remember that starting any journey requires courage, but it’s your determination and belief in yourself that will carry you through the tough times.

Another crucial aspect has been client connection, care, and active listening. Connecting with my clients, caring about their needs, and actively listening to their stories have been crucial in sustaining my journey. For beginners, I recommend prioritizing client relationships. Take the time to understand your clients’ desires, fears, and expectations. Show genuine care and empathy for their experiences, and listen attentively to their feedback. Building strong client connections fosters trust and loyalty, leading to long-term success in your photography career.

Lastly, continuous learning and adaptability have played a significant role. Photography is a field where learning never stops. Being open to learning from others, whether through formal education, online resources, or mentorship, is essential for growth. Embrace opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills, and be adaptable to changes in technology, trends, and client preferences. Remember that evolution is a natural part of the creative process, so stay curious and open-minded as you navigate your journey.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
As a boudoir and wedding photographer, there are several individuals and businesses I would be thrilled to collaborate with to enhance my craft and provide exceptional experiences for my clients.

First and foremost, collaborating with talented makeup artists and hairstylists would be a top priority. Their expertise in enhancing natural beauty and creating stunning looks can elevate the overall experience for boudoir clients, helping them feel confident and empowered during their photo sessions. Working closely with makeup artists and hairstylists who understand the aesthetic I aim to achieve would ensure cohesive and visually striking results.

Additionally, partnering with wedding planners and coordinators would be invaluable for creating seamless and unforgettable wedding experiences. Collaborating with professionals who share a vision for creating unique and personalized weddings would allow me to capture every moment with authenticity and creativity. By working together closely, we can ensure that the photography seamlessly integrates with the overall wedding design and theme, resulting in stunning visual storytelling.

Moreover, collaborating with other photographers in the industry would offer opportunities for mutual learning and growth. Sharing insights, techniques, and creative ideas with fellow photographers can inspire new approaches and perspectives, ultimately benefiting both parties and enriching the quality of our work.

Furthermore, collaborating with wedding venues and vendors would open doors to unique opportunities for creative shoots and styled sessions. Building strong partnerships with venues, florists, designers, and other wedding vendors can provide access to exclusive locations and resources, allowing for innovative and visually captivating photo shoots.

In addition to industry professionals, I am also eager to connect with soon-to-be married couples or individuals who want to feel empowered, confident, and beautiful through a boudoir shoot. Whether it’s capturing intimate moments before tying the knot or celebrating personal milestones, I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment where clients can embrace their true selves and shine in front of the camera.

Overall, collaboration is key to success in the photography industry, and I am excited about the prospect of partnering with talented professionals and clients who share a passion for creating exceptional experiences and memories. For collaboration inquiries or to book a boudoir session, interested individuals and businesses can connect with me via email at [email protected].
