Meet Dmitri Hambrick

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dmitri Hambrick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dmitri, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Here is a revised version of your passage with corrections to grammar and syntax:

My optimism stems from my belief system. I understand the power of thought and how it can manifest things in my life. Maintaining an optimistic or positive mindset is the only option I need to pursue if I am to achieve the results I desire in life. Moreover, my optimism is also rooted in my faith—not only in God but also in myself. I believe I have the ability to overcome any challenge I face because my God assures me that He will not give me more than I can handle. With this belief, I am convinced that I can surmount any obstacle or challenge because the necessary tools lie within me.

I am optimistic because I have overcome numerous challenges in my life. For instance, experiencing my mother’s death at an early age was a significant trial. I had to navigate through this loss at the age of 10, while also tackling the challenges of going to college. Taking the college entrance exam and being placed in two remedial classes was a hurdle I needed to clear before being accepted into college-level courses. This was a formidable challenge that I overcame while working part-time in a warehouse. Balancing work and school was another challenge, as was starting multiple businesses and facing failures. Yet, each of these experiences was a victory and a learning opportunity, shaping me into the person I am today.

I have seen significant personal growth since starting to work with my current business partner. This progress is a result of my efforts and my consistent positive thinking and actions. My optimism about the future is unwavering because I believe that I control my destiny. Therefore, optimism is the only option I allow myself, as I know it will lead to the outcomes I seek.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Dmitri Hambrick, from Atlanta, and I’m thrilled to be part of the What’s The Formula Mentoring Academy. My journey kicked off with a business degree from Georgia State University, which really set the stage for the diverse career path I’ve walked down, especially in coaching and mentorship.

Since diving into the cryptocurrency world in 2017, I’ve been on this exciting roller coaster, learning and exploring a ton about this cutting-edge area. It’s not just about the money; it’s about understanding this new wave of finance and helping others get the hang of it too. I’m all about showing people how to make sense of these digital dollars and what they could mean for their futures.

Coaching is where my heart is. I’m all in on guiding young adults to find what really sparks their passion and showing them that success doesn’t always look like a college degree or a 9-to-5 job. There’s a whole world of possibilities out there, and I’m here to help them navigate it, whether they’re thinking about starting their own gig or carving out a unique career path.

My time at UPS, from hauling boxes to working in the corporate office, has given me a pretty rounded view of the business world. Those experiences are like gold when I’m chatting with mentees, giving them the inside scoop on what the working world is really like, whether they’re eyeing the entrepreneurial route or climbing the corporate ladder.

At What’s The Formula Mentoring Academy, I’m more than just a mentor—I’m part of a team that’s dead set on making a difference. We’re here to push, inspire, and empower our mentees to grab hold of those incredible opportunities out there and to tackle the business world with confidence and a clear head.

Looking ahead, I’m buzzing with excitement about what’s next. There’s always something new on the horizon, whether it’s fresh guests on our podcast, cool partnerships, or innovative ways to mentor. My aim is to light a fire under a generation, getting them ready to be informed, resilient, and proactive creators of their own destinies.

So yeah, at What’s The Formula, I’m not just helping out; I’m part of a mission to equip a generation with the tools they need to be the best they can be, impacting their lives and the communities around them in a big way.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe the three key qualities that truly shaped my path were resilience, continuous learning, and the ability to build and nurture relationships.

Firstly, resilience has been my cornerstone. The road hasn’t always been smooth; I’ve faced setbacks, from business challenges to personal losses. What made a difference was the ability to get back up, learn from those experiences, and keep moving forward. For those just starting out, my advice is to embrace failure as part of your growth. Don’t shy away from challenges; instead, see them as opportunities to become stronger and more adaptable.

Secondly, the commitment to continuous learning has been invaluable. In fields like cryptocurrency and mentoring, staying updated and constantly curious has kept me relevant and effective. I’ve dedicated thousands of hours to understanding the nuances of digital finance, which has been crucial in navigating this fast-evolving landscape. For newcomers, I’d recommend fostering a mindset of lifelong learning. Dive into books, courses, and real-world experiences. Never stop asking questions and seeking new knowledge.

Lastly, the ability to build and nurture relationships has been pivotal. Whether it’s connecting with mentees, peers, or industry experts, these relationships have enriched my journey and opened doors to opportunities I could never have accessed alone. For those early in their journey, focus on genuinely connecting with others. Offer value, listen, and learn from those around you. Remember, it’s not just about networking; it’s about building meaningful, lasting relationships.

In essence, cultivate resilience, never stop learning, and invest in relationships. These principles have guided me and I believe they can serve as a beacon for anyone, regardless of where they are on their path.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely, I am always on the lookout for like-minded individuals and organizations to partner with and collaborate. I’m particularly keen to connect with fellow mentors, educators, entrepreneurs, and anyone passionate about youth development and financial empowerment.

If you’re someone who values guiding the next generation by providing tools for personal and professional growth, or if you desire to learn more about digital finance, I would love to hear from you.
