Hi Giovanni, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
I would say that is something that I continue to develop and work on as I continue my journey, and my purpose. If you don’t take risk, you will never know what could be on the other side of that risk that may actually benefit you and change your life for the better. One thing you can’t do is give up if you fail while taking a risk. That’s a time where you have to come back to the drawing board, and see what lesson you learned from it, and make adjustments. I am becoming more confident in taking risk because I know what I want for myself, it just comes down to navigating in the right direction.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name Is Giovanni DC aka Giovanni DonCarlos, I am a music Producer/Songwriter, and Engineer From Cleveland, Ohio. I am a music creative, and I started my journey in music in 2016. Where I am from it’s a hard working blue collar city that is also rough at times. Growing up in the inner city you see a lot things happening around you, and you don’t have the same resources as you would growing up somewhere else. It is very easy to go in the wrong direction growing up, and it can be challenging being from the inner city. For me I decided that I was not going to do what everyone else was doing. I wanted to go after what I enjoyed doing. Then one day I was inspired to make a change. I then spent countless hours researching, and teaching myself how to make beats, and write songs. Learn the language on making music. Even though I grew up around the music game I was enjoying the process of learning, so I continued everyday just practicing for hours, and overtime I started seeing improvement, and that’s the point when I took everything serious. I wanted to see this vison that I had planted grow. I then came up with the name of my Production company GDC Productions and made it official. GDC stands for the initials in my name Giovanni DonCarlos. Today It stands for more than just my name. It also stands for Genius Creative Designed Productions. I came up with this name because as producers we bring things to life. We create something from nothing. To me that is a genius like tendency to be able to create something from nothing. When It come to me making music, I pride myself on being creative as possible. Giving the listeners an experience. When it comes to the designing, we are sound designers, we arrange the songs and piece them together like a puzzle, so I feel like that name fits what GDC productions stand for. For my brand I want to be able to show the youth and others that you can achieve anything you want regardless of where you come from. I plan on growing this brand for a longtime, I have ideas that I want to bring into fruition that I believe can help my community in many ways. I want to bring hope to those who want to pursue their dreams, and come from the inner city like I did. Here at GDC Productions I pride myself on being professional, doing good business, and providing a positive listening experience. I am excited for what the future holds, as well as expanding my brand worldwide.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would have to say patience Is the first quality that comes to mind. In this business, you have to have a great amount of patience for sure. People tend to give up on things they are pursuing when they first try something, and if they don’t see quick results, they give up. Being patient is key in this business because, it can take years before you see any progress, but at the same time you never know when your moment is going to come through, and change your life for the better. That’s also why you have to stay consistent which is my second area of knowledge. Being consistent goes hand in hand with being patient. As long as you work towards something everyday even on the days you don’t want to. You will see the improvement, and might even learning new things about yourself along the way. So you always should stay consistent if you really want to pursue something. Nothing is easy, and it can be very easy to give up. I would say for my third skill it would be learning, and always being a student. Even when you feel like you know enough already there is always room to learn and improve even more. I pride myself on being a student and consistently learning, and growing my skills and gaining knowledge. This is something that has helped me along the way throughout my career thus far. The more knowledge I learn the more I apply it to my business.
