We recently connected with Maybed Romero and have shared our conversation below.
Maybed , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
A few ways that I keep my creativity alive is by allowing myself to rest when needed. After minor breaks I look over all my work and most of the time new inspiration comes from previous work.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Maybed Romero and I am the creative behind Mar y Luna Botanical Bakery. A home baker with over a decade of professional experience in the culinary world specializing in plant-based “Ceremonial Cakes”.
I specialize in what I call “Ceremonial Cakes”. A cake that is made specifically for the person being celebrated adored in flower crowns. Cakes are an essential part of all sorts of celebrations and is what most people look forward too as the moment comes to an end.
I strive to create cakes with tons of flavors using botanical herbs. My most popular being Vanilla Chamomile, Cacao Lavender, Lemon Basil, Strawberry Rose and many more.
I have been in the culinary world for over a decade working for high profile clients and have helped open restaurants as an executive chef but my true love is being a cake artist and being a part of your most memorable celebrations.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I am naturally driven by the beauty of life’s perfect imperfections. This has been my fuel for helping me achieve my goals and dreams knowing that as long as I give it my all there will be someone to see its beauty.
Anything that you wish to achieve is yours if you take the time to give its value. Life is only as valuable as you make it. There will be many people who will challenge your vision. My personal mantra is “There is one other like me”. I’ve never compared my work to anyone because it is my personal touch mark in the world.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my family has done for me is showing me the beauty inside a kitchen. All of our favorite meals were made in my grandmas house. Something so simple made with love can give you some of life’s greatest moments. Food is truly the way into someone’s heart.
