Meet Joseph Haggerty

We were lucky to catch up with Joseph Haggerty recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Some people say the greatest teachers in life are our children. This was the case for me. When I was 21, my son was born. I knew immediately that I needed to kick things into gear right away so I could be a good provider. This was just the start. For a short period, I worked multiple jobs but then went with one where I would excel and move up the ladder. After about 5 years of working in the title insurance industry, I came to a point where I had an opportunity to try going after my dream, which was to be a chef. Being the same guy who was eager to be the best provider, I started a job in a kitchen of a small, locally well-known restaurant. I worked hard to learn everything I could so I could advance. I worked day shifts in the front of house serving tables and nights in the kitchen. I learned every task and skill needed to work any position inn that restaurant. After about 2 years, I was lucky to have an opportunity to be the lead chef for that kitchen. I achieved my dream of being a chef in a very short period of time and I didn’t take it for granted. I worked tirelessly to achieve the perfect outcome in every aspect of that role. If you, you know. The role of chef doesn’t come easy. The hours took over my life. I barely had time for my family, but I did see awesome results in my profession. This all came to an end(after 2 1/2 years) when I had to make the decision to leave my role as chef to take care of an Ill family member. I later went back to the title insurance industry, where I am today.

What I learned and experienced during these years of my life was that success does not come easy. Its not about how brilliant or talented you are but how you apply yourself. Since then, I know that every time I achieve greatness, it is due to my drive and determination to move forward. I have had moments since, where I did not do so well and its very clear as to why.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My role currently, is as an account executive for Orange Coast Title of Southern California. I serve and work with real estate agents, mortgage professional and other industry people to achieve the best outcome for their real estate transactions. My most unique quality in this field is the strength of my service and knowledge. With the years I worked all of the inside positions to learn and excel, I provide research, data, tools and expertise on a level like non of my competitors. I will say that I don’t so well with reaching new clients as I should. Many of my best clients have been referred to me and almost all of my clients stay loyal because they know they can rely on me in just about any case. for those who want to get to know my brand, personality and vision, I try to create content on social media platforms as much as possible. You can find my content mostly on Instagram @thetitlebeat and other platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One quality is resilience, I never just say no when someone has a complicated or challenging request. A skill I have that is very strong is online research and software skills. I was lucky to grow up in the era where computers technology grew the most. and the third would be the knowledge of how title insurance works that can only be learned from working on files day in and day out. Many of my strongest competitors don’t bring the same knowledge and understanding of the product as I do. My advice would be to take advantage of the opportunities in front of you and make the best of it. If you were meant to do something else or have another dream, it will happen if its meant to be. Be the best as what you do, regardless of what your title is.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
If you are a real estate agent of any level, I invite you to try my services, even if its just a simple inquiry about a property or transaction. When you work with me, you will find you don’t need to go with any other title rep.
