Meet Danny Apodaca

We were lucky to catch up with Danny Apodaca recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
For me, work ethic is a will that I inherited. With that being said, my pops is the hardest working person I know. It’s easy to say I learned a lot from him. He told me at a young age that character is doing the right thing even when nobody is around. So keep working hard in any given situation. I’ve found I can use this strength in almost every facet of life. By creating a positive mindset, using my intelligence, combination of hard and soft skills, and experience, I have fostered one impressive work ethic.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Where do I start?! I’ve lived in San Diego, California my whole life. Born in the 80s, grew up in the 90s. Growing up I played sports, nerded out on cartoons, anime, and video games. I’ve worked in multiple different fields of work ranging from construction building houses, to Human Resources, processing performance reviews, which is my current field. But I also have another passion other than work, and that’s FOOD!! From eating at the latest restaurant in town, to trying to cook something that I seen on TV! I started my own Instagram food blog in 2018. Not too long after starting that page, I realized that there is an entire community online dedicated to food. They’re called.. foodie’s!! My page Danimes_delights has become a bit of a passion of mine. Inadvertently dipping my toes in the social media marketing world. I put together sweet video packages that showcase the restaurants I visit. I’ve met some incredible owners and crew members at different restaurants I visited. I’ve also made some very dear friends in the foodie community. And since San Diego is such a melting pot and mecca for culture, we have an endless bounty of restaurants and flavors to indulge in.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
You’d be surprised as to what a skill can be. If you can develope it, it’s probably a skill! And my most useful skill is communication. Great communication can be used in almost any situation, at any time. Even though you wouldn’t think it, with communication, the more you practice, the better you’ll get at it. One of my most valuable qualities would be my sense of humor. I bring levity to the conversation, as well as respect the topic at hand. How do these things impact my journey you say? Well, being a foodie You need to network! Don’t be afraid to push yourself outside of your comfort zone a bit. The reward will always be worth it!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I love to collaborate! That’s a large part of what I do. I enjoy partnering up with restaurants, taco shops, fast food spots, coffee shops, pretty much anything and everything food related in San Diego. I make pretty sweet video packages, and I’m very easy to communicate and schedule with. I am breathable through my Instagram page danimes_delights and my email!
