Meet josh gall

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Josh Gall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Josh, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic honestly comes from my drive, my desire to succeed and my passion. When i wanted to get into DJing / music production it was up to me to begin the journey and to sit myself down everyday to learn the basics and fundamentals. Even to this day i am always learning something new and I do not like staying stagnant in my learnings or abilities for too long. If a song i’m working on isn’t coming together or not working, i will find ways to fix it or learn a new process to make it better. If my flow of music for a DJ night isn’t working, i will change up what i’m doing, and review the next day to see what corrections I can make whether that’s a transition, different song selections, ect. Since I take my music and djing very seriously I treat it like you would with a normal job. Show up everyday with your best efforts for success

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I go under the name DJ Josh Gall for Open Format
Intrasy is my Alias for EDM / Bass

  • Open Format: means I play every genre of music. Typically you’ll hear this style of performance at your bars. clubs, ect. This can range from Throwbacks, Girly Sing alongs, Pop, Country, EDM, RnB Ect
  • EDM / Bass music: Also music performed at bars and clubs(These are normally specific events or at EDM based venues), but also extended to festivals like Breakaway, Electric Forest, ect
Genres youll hear will be , House, Dubstep, Drum and bass, Ect

I am a full time DJ / Music Producer in Cincinnati Ohio! I perform under the name DJ Josh Gall at Locations like Igbys, The Stretch, Beeline, Rosedale OTR, Japps OTR, Killer Queen and a few other locations.
I also Perform under Intrasy at other locations depending on the event location / venue. (This may include venues outside of Cincinnati) In the past I have performed at Venues like Tulua nightclub, Mad Frog, Thompson House, and at Festivals like Breakaway, Electric Forest and Summer Camp Music Festival

I started out back during covid in 2020, when I was really getting in to EDM music and was interested in djing and producing. At the time I was just working a desk job while living in Louisville Kentucky. I was attending / helping with some shows up in Cincinnati ran by Uncut Republic (One of the major promoters at the time) and saw a lot of opportunities musically. I was stuck between trying to work my way up the cooperate ladder and buying a house at the time in Louisville or drop everything, take a risk and move to Cincinnati for music. I didnt have any friends in Cincinnati and not really any plans. It was a high risk high reward move. It could have gone terribly if my drive wasnt so strong

During the first few months of living in Cincinnati, I met Dani Klepper who goes by the DJ name (Volved) and Darik Klepper (D-Link). Both Incredible House / Club Djs who introduced me to Jason McGlothlin who goes by DJ Identity, One of Cincinnati’s best open format DJs. Identity introduced me to a ton of other Djs and to 4EG. 4EG runs and owns popular locations in Cincinnati like The Stretch, Igbys, Beeline, Killer Queen, Rosedale and more.

I spent all of my free time in both the EDM scene and Club / Open Format scene getting to know other Djs, getting to know the bars and staff, and invested all of that time networking and getting to know the music. Cincinnatis EDM scene at this time had slowed down quite a bit so I decided to focus more on producing Bass Music and continued to invest my time in the bars, Djs and people in the city After 2 years of learning the crowds, learning multiple genres and hours and hours of working my library, .craft, abilities and production I was able to get away from a desk job.

Fast forward to now, I DJ every Thursday-Saturday while hosting bingo nights at various locations!

Outside of DJ Josh Gall I am still heavily producing Bass/EDM music and pushing as much as I can in that direction as Intrasy, and take on bookings when offered. If I am booked on a weekend I normally give up a night of open format to go perform as Intrasy

As far as upcoming things:

I am soon releasing a Collab with Emurse called symbiotic. Having studied music theory for over a decade, as well as being a trained guitarist, pianist, bassist and percussionist, Emurse strives to push the boundaries of the melodic side of electronic music, Which alligns with my style of production as well as Intrasy

Continuously writing and creating music as Intrasy and preparing to release a year long amount of music

Bingo nights are starting to pick up traction at Pilar and Low Spark so come out and win some prizes!!

Gearing up and preparing for a wild summer in Cincinnati with new music ideas, new renovations to bars and packed nights

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being personable and open to learning is one. Alot of skills, music and ideals I have now when it comes to my crowds, production and music was something I was not receptive to at all when I first started. Be open to new knowledge and skills especially if it benefits you.

being disciplined. Even now I still get distracted sometimes when working on a song or trying to organize things or finish projects. Music can be a fun career without it burning you out but you have to be able to balance it like a normal job. Set aside hours each day to complete tasks you need to do.

Whether its finishing a mix on a song, needing to download or make certain edits, scheduling meetings, making flyers Invest in yourself and understand you will spend hours and hours in learning and practice. What you put in is what you get out.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

The absolute biggest challenge right now that I face is balancing my Open Format /Club Djing vs EDM career. While i do support both scenes it does become very difficult to show face and be there for other DJs when i have to perform myself. Its hard to network, support and share my own music on the EDM side when i am fully Djing Open Format. While it is now my full time job i have to rely on my social media presence / song output to build my EDM name.
