Meet Dana Cannon – Bryson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dana Cannon – Bryson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dana, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My well of resilience runs deep, sourced from the strong women in my family who defied odds to forge a brighter future in the US. Their unyielding determination and tireless work ethic instilled in me the core values of perseverance and hard work, regardless of the challenges that may arise.

At a young age, I faced a profound loss when my mother passed away suddenly, leaving my father to navigate the role of a single parent. Witnessing his resilience in overcoming numerous obstacles while maximizing opportunities in the face of adversity taught me invaluable life lessons. Through the remarkable resilience and unwavering spirits of my family, I have grown into the resilient woman I am today, carrying their legacy forward with pride and gratitude.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Absolutely! Throughout my journey, I have embraced diverse roles in the entrepreneurial, financial, political, and nonprofit sectors. These experiences have enriched me with invaluable skills and lessons that I now utilize in building an empire for myself and my family.

As a business owner, I have successfully established a Firm that has been empowering individuals to start businesses for a remarkable 8 years. Through our comprehensive range of services including coaching, branding, marketing, and administrative support, we have proudly assisted countless individuals across the United States in pursuing their dreams. Additionally, I have ventured into the realm of children’s literature as a self-published author, working alongside my children Kristin and Ezron Jr. to create the “Mommy and Tin Tin” series.

Amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, I was motivated to make a difference and founded a non-profit organization called Building Young Moguls. Our mission is to offer entrepreneurship-tailored programs to teens from underserved communities, allowing them to explore their creativity and innovation through engaging workshops. Today, BYM continues to play a vital role in empowering young individuals in various capacities. I am also an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York at Medgar Evers College.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I believe the 3 most important skills and qualities that matter the most is Adaptability, Emotional Intelligence and Consistency. As you can see, things can change very quickly in life, business and education so being able to adjust to the waves is a vital quality. For consistency, it really is the small, daily tasks we do on a regular basis that will build towards something major in the future.  Above all, emotional intelligence stands as the paramount quality. Being able to motivate and empower yourself will push you in moments when you don’t want too. Also, having the ability to empathize and understand different perspectives will help you build the relationships that will take you to where you want to be.  I believe acquiring and honing these 3 qualities/skills will pave the way for reaching any desired level of success.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I am fortunate to have an incredible tribe consisting of family members, mentors, and confidants who have played a significant role in my journey. However, one person stands out among them – My Husband. His influence on my success has been profound.

My husband possesses a unique ability to help me see beyond the challenges that arise, allowing me to maintain forward momentum. He offers support and helps me recognize the true impact and vision of my current endeavors as well as those yet to come. With his encouragement, I am motivated to prioritize my business and fearlessly unleash my creativity.

Having such a supportive and influential person in my life has been a tremendous catalyst for my growth and accomplishments. I am grateful for the support and guidance my husband provides, constantly reminding me of my capabilities and inspiring me to continually strive for greatness.
