Meet Chandler Tang

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chandler Tang a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Chandler, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I worked really hard in school. Almost too hard. But it’s helped me develop a strong sense of resilience. On some magical days, I can sometimes find it within myself. The opportunity to run a business of my own also drives me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I own and run a local gift shop in San Francisco. We are called post.script. Our collection of items is very colorful+unique. We sell greeting cards, candles, notebooks, other home goods, and more. Our goal is to help people find thoughtful cards/gifts. We’ve grown our collection over the last few years and are focused on working with woman-owned, locally-owned, POC-owned brands.I grew up in San Francisco and I have always wanted a shop of my own. To now be a part of the community as a local shop owner is truly special to me. Across the years, my family had many small businesses in the bay area. I feel very lucky to carry on the tradition and now run a shop of my own.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
This is a tough question!

3 skills that were important in my journey
– learning what to prioritize
– telling my story and the story of the business
– (if possible) hiring (the right) people

Some advice I might offer to others who are early on their journey – do research, be prepared to teach yourself how to do a lot of things ex. you might need to create your own tools, and also try to accept that your project will likely change over time and might not end up 100% like the way it was in your head.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Of course we are looking for folks to collaborate and partner with, especially via exclusive products, events, and more!
