Meet Pam Holland

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pam Holland. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Pam, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I was let go from a job that I loved, and as I pondered what to do next, a close friend (who knew me well) said “I think you should help people organize.” Now mind you, this was back in 2005, so pre Marie Kondo, the Home Edit and the rise of decluttering articles in the media, so my response was “Do people get paid to do that?” I found a neighbor who wanted organizing support and when she decided to hire a professional organizer to come help her, she asked the organizer if I could tag along. As I observed the process, I decided that this was indeed something that I would like to try. So I hung up homemade flyers at my local coop, a popular restaurant, and a video store and for years that was how my clients found me. In 2008 I began to do workshops, which is something that I discovered that I loved, and my business really took off after that.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Since 2005, I have been honored to help folks overwhelmed by clutter create calm and clutter-free space in their homes through mindful decluttering and organizing. Decluttering is sacred work. Ties to your “things” can keep you from reaching your full potential. By releasing things that no longer serve you, you create space for new opportunities to flow effortlessly into your life.
You have within you the wisdom and the power to release things that no longer support you. I offer compassionate guidance as you discover how to tap into that knowledge.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Curiosity Passion
A desire to help

I think that curiosity and openness to possibility are critical in order to avoid burnout when running your own business. Though you may have a clear business goal, be open to HOW that goal can be achieved. Find a community with values like yours and support one another (even if you are in the same field.) Practice self-care in small ways each day.

How would you describe your ideal client?
I empower soulful women entrepreneurs to declutter their lives at a deep level so they can free up energy to create the life they desire. I do this by helping them to understand the energetic effects of clutter and release the limiting thoughts, subconscious beliefs and emotional ties to objects that hold them back.
