Meet Arielle Peters

We were lucky to catch up with Arielle Peters recently and have shared our conversation below.

Arielle, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Everything about who I am is derived from what I believe. I believe that Jesus came and died on the cross for me so that despite all my short-comings and failures, I have hope in eternity with Him. When I’ve been at my very lowest like my miscarriage in 2017, or losing my father suddenly at 28, I have known the hope ahead of me. It doesn’t make failing or hardship easier, but it gives and underlying peace that nothing can take away. When you have hope like that, there’s a silver lining to pretty much anything.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been a wedding photographer for 13 years. I got my bachelors in business, but somewhere along the way picked up a camera and found my love for capturing the beauty around me. Especially when it comes to the sacred day of weddings. After loosing my dad in 2019, I remember picking up his and my mom’s wedding album. I already knew what I did was weighty, but having that wedding album in my hands and realizing that photos and videos were the only tangible things we had to remember him by, made it all that more significant. My goal is to tell a couples story in the unique way it’s told on their wedding day. It’s not like anyone else’s day so it should feel unique to them. I want my couples kids and grandkids to be able to be transported back in time to the way their day felt.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
A few important things I learned early on is to not get discouraged by the no’s. Those only pave the way for the best opportunities and the RIGHT ones to come your way. Mindset is truly everything in running your own business. You’ll only burn out if you let yourself get down. Another skillset that has been helpful is a bit how my mind usually works, but that’s being very aware of good marketing. Being able to identify your ideal client and speak directly to them through your website, social media and interactions are very important. The last thing is to continue to learn and don’t ever stay stagnant. I’m always looking for ways to grow and expand. Continuously looking for ways to branch out and learn is the only thing that’ll make you better.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents did for me was teach me to follow Jesus. At the end of the day everything could be stripped from me and I would still be ok because of where my foundation is. You can take bigger risks when you understand that no matter what you do, your identity doesn’t change. That kind of security and peace can’t be bought or worked towards. It’s something that comes as a free gift from Jesus once we put our trust in Him. I’m forever thankful that my parents instilled that in me at a very young age.
