Hi Andrew, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
Reflecting on my journey, my ability to take risks has been cultivated through a combination of personal experiences, professional challenges, and the influence of mentors and role models. From a young age, observing my grandfather’s reverence in the business community instilled in me the understanding that success often requires stepping out of one’s comfort zone. This early lesson was the foundation upon which I built my risk-taking ability.In my professional life, launching Tally Entertainment and later becoming an owner in Deep Love Beverages were pivotal moments that tested and honed my risk-taking skills. These ventures were embarked upon during uncertain times, especially the inception of Tally Entertainment during the Covid-19 pandemic. The decision to start a business amidst global uncertainty was a significant risk, driven by a belief in the potential of blending traditional entertainment with digital innovation.
The development of my role at Deep Love Beverages further exemplified my capacity for risk-taking. Venturing into the competitive beverage industry with a unique proposition of floral-infused, low-calorie drinks required not just a deep understanding of the market but also the courage to introduce something novel. The company’s founder and president DJ Rassech has greatly inspired me and aiding in my calculated risk development. His brand’s inspiration, rooted in a passion for exploring and introducing new flavors to the market, aligned perfectly with my professional ethos and personal journey.
My approach to risk has always been analytical yet intuitive. I believe in thorough research, understanding market gaps, and leveraging technological advancements. However, I also trust my instincts, drawing from my experiences and the lessons learned from observing successful entrepreneurs like my mother and mentor. Their guidance showed me the importance of calculated risks and the value of innovation and differentiation in business.Moreover, my background in marketing and my role at Deep Water USA Inc. have reinforced the importance of staying ahead of trends and being adaptable. This mindset has been crucial in developing my ability to take risks by anticipating consumer needs and being prepared to pivot strategies when necessary.In essence, my ability to take risks has been a blend of learned behavior, inspired by the examples set by family and mentors, and personal growth through navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship. It’s about balancing the analytical with the intuitive, embracing uncertainty as an opportunity for innovation, and always being guided by a vision for what could be achieved.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey leading to my roles at Deep Love Beverages and Tally Entertainment, three core qualities have been instrumental: creativity, strategic thinking, and adaptability.Creativity has been the bedrock of my approach, allowing me to envision and execute unique marketing strategies and event experiences. For those early in their journey, I recommend immersing yourself in diverse creative fields, seeking inspiration from beyond your immediate interests. Engage with art, technology, nature, and different cultures to broaden your creative perspective.Strategic Thinking has enabled me to navigate the complexities of the market and align business objectives with consumer needs effectively. To hone this skill, I advise aspiring professionals to practice analytical problem-solving, engage with case studies in your field, and always consider the broader business implications of your decisions.Adaptability has been crucial in responding to the fast-paced changes in both the beverage and entertainment industries. Cultivating adaptability involves embracing change, being open to learning new skills, and staying informed about industry trends. I encourage those starting out to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to remain flexible in their strategies and goals.For anyone embarking on a similar path, focus on developing these qualities through continuous learning, seeking mentorship, and being open to experimentation. Remember, success is a journey of constant evolution and growth.
