Meet Krishawn Crockett

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Krishawn Crockett . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Krishawn below.

Krishawn, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
When asked where my confidence and self esteem generates from, my answer is more of a “who” than a “where” . My confidence relies in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone. In fact, it is Him who I trust to sustain me where I am more than I trust my own ability to do so. It is Him who qualified, equipped, and molded me into what I needed to be and will need to be to maintain what He’s called me to do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ll start by mentioning that I hadn’t completely pictured my life panning out this way, but I thank God his plans were better than my own . For as long as I could remember I only desired professional basketball for my life. I chased that dream for years determined to reach the expectation I had set. Making it all the way up to the collegiate level, and later the semi pro level was just the smallest version of what I wanted for my life. Unfortunately, after experiencing a mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional decline, I was brought to a position of surrenderance that submitted me fully to the will of God. In releasing my control, what I thought was the end, was actually the beginning. As I was embarking on a new journey, God was revealing to me that with the game of basketball I would be using it as a tools to draw the youth all over the world to the Kingdom of God. This is how Xplosive Athletics Academy was created. Through Xplosive Athletics Academy, we not only train youth to become sharp athletes but we also train them to be spiritually, mentally, and emotionally equipped. Through this game and this ministry that was gifted to me, I was fortunate enough to see and plant in parts of the world that I never thought I would. Africa, Panama, and wherever else God desires. As we continue to grow and build, what we desire most is to expand the Kingdom of God giving the youth a hope that cannot come from this world. I think that’s what makes us different than other facilities, our agenda is salvations more than status and revenue. We want to demonstrate the love, grace, and compassion of Christ through this brand. If we get these kids into heaven, we would have met our goal.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I’m not sure if there were qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge I would say impacted my journey. I would simply say that surrenderance and submission was half the battle. Believe it or not, but once I did that it seemed like God had already aligned everything in place for me in a way that was effortless for me to receive. The advice I would give is be obedient, and in doing that, you will land exactly where you need to be.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
There has been so many people I could name that have impacted my journey. The Holy Spirit has been most helpful in teaching me as I go, but in addition to that, I would have to thank my parents for being very supportive from the very beginning. My grandmother, for giving me wisdom.  Issac Durran, who played a huge role in helping me build by taking a chance on me. Victoria Tatum who does a lot of preparation behind the scenes and challenges me. Bruce Kilaka, who does a great job stewarding over our international branch. The Nappiers, The Duncans, The Boaz’s, The Brady’s. My closest friends who’ve poured and push me. My village of intercessors, My trainers,  My mentors. Most importantly, All of my Xplosive Athletics Kids, locally and internationally, they keep me going and rooted in purpose and teach me everyday. I mean there’s SO many people I could name that have played a role, and I’ve left so many people out but I hope that each and everyone of them know who they are.
