Cameron , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
The journey toward developing confidence and self-esteem is often a gradual process, characterized by a series of small victories that eventually lead to significant achievements. In my own experience, overcoming doubts and disproving skeptics has played a crucial role in shaping my self-belief. Despite encountering challenges and internalizing negative feedback, I’ve consistently held onto an inner conviction that pushes me forward with the belief that I am capable of achieving my goals.I’ve always believed in firsthand experience as a basis for forming opinions and making decisions. With a determination to avoid regrets and the repercussions of disregarding skeptics, I made a life-altering choice three years ago to relocate to California. Despite the daunting prospect of uprooting my life and starting anew in an unfamiliar environment, I trusted my instincts and embraced the opportunity for growth.Sharing my decision with my family on the day of my move may have come as a surprise to them, but I recognized that their concerns could have potentially swayed my resolve if disclosed earlier. Despite initial reservations, my journey in California has been marked by personal growth and numerous accomplishments.Ultimately, I recognize that I am the architect of my own story, and I take pride in the path I have chosen to pursue. With a sense of confidence and self-assurance, I embrace both who I am and the journey that lies ahead.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Throughout my journey as an actor and comedian, one pivotal moment stands out—the day my nana saw potential in me that even my parents doubted, I believe I was only 3 or 4 at the time. It all began with a pageant she stumbled upon, promising an agent to the winner. Despite my parents’ skepticism, my nana believed in me and submitted me, disregarding their doubts. And guess what? I won. Clad in a Chicago White Sox uniform, with my nana pitching me baseballs in a sparkly black dress, I swung and missed twice before hitting a home run on the final pitch, catapulting me into the world of child acting under the guidance of Nancy Chaidez, whose agency became my springboard to commercials and shows including an episode on Barney, McDonalds commercial, Kraft commercial and tons more, almost landed a role on the then popular Martin show but didn’t get the chance to audition because my dads work required our family to move to Texas. Although a move to Texas interrupted my acting career, my love for performance persisted. After college, fueled by a passion for comedy, my brother Desean Newson and I began crafting skits, eventually forming Dop3ryENT. As the years passed, I delved into acting classes, indie films, student films, commercials, small movie roles and stand-up comedy, aiming to carve a name for myself in both realms, acting and standup comedy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I don’t necessarily have 3 qualities but 8. Passion & Drive, willingness to learn, work ethic, confidence, perseverance, commitment & creativity. Life is an unpredictable journey, devoid of set criteria or limits on the qualities, skills, or knowledge one must possess. Each individual’s path is unique, laden with challenges and opportunities. For me, the essence of this journey lies in cultivating passion and drive—essential motivations that propel one forward. Alongside, a willingness to learn serves as a compass through the peaks and valleys, fostering personal growth and resilience. Developing a robust work ethic, marked by perseverance and a commitment to excellence, lays the foundation for success. Self-confidence becomes the guiding light amidst doubts and naysayers, while creativity fuels innovation and problem-solving. Embracing setbacks as stepping stones, I advocate for aspiring individuals to safeguard their passion, remain steadfast in their pursuit, and embrace their potential with unwavering confidence. After all, in this journey called life, you are the author of your story, capable of achieving what you set your mind to.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most significant gift my parents bestowed upon me was the opportunity to live a fulfilling life. Growing up in a stable, two-parent household alongside my three siblings, I’m immensely thankful not to have experienced poverty or hardship. I was fortunate to have a joyful childhood, surrounded by love and provided with all necessities—a home, clothing, food, and ample toys. Additionally, I had the invaluable companionship of my siblings and the opportunity to explore the world through travel. Reflecting on my upbringing, I deeply admire my parents for shaping the person I am today and aspire to have a similarly positive impact when I become a parent myself.
