Meet Silvia Pinho

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Silvia Pinho. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Silvia, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Honestly, it comes with time. I’m sorry; I know that’s not the answer most want to hear, but it’s the truth (or at least it was for me). As someone who’s always struggled with anxiety and has gone through years of bullying, it’s hard to rewrite that narrative in your head that people are always judging you and that you’re never quite good enough for whatever it is you’re trying to do. But as with everything, practice makes… improvement. I’ve had to find the courage within me to put myself out there over and over until that wasn’t as much of a struggle anymore. And I can’t say it’s not a struggle at all; I would be lying. But I can safely say that it has gotten way, way, way easier with time and practice.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Sure, I started freelancing about 10 years ago, and while at first, it was mostly driven by my “need” to go to more concerts, it quickly grew into a lifestyle that allowed me the freedom to travel and work from home on whichever schedule I decided fits me the best. Granted, I’ve tried many different schedules over the years! I’ve also tried many different services and made many other time-consuming mistakes in my journey that I sometimes wish I hadn’t. On that note, these mistakes, along with the constant questions I got from fellow freelancers, made me open a side journey, if you will, of my business, solely dedicated to helping those freelancers or aspiring freelancers find “success” – whatever that means for them – quicker and without all the costly mistakes I once made. In sum, I help business owners make their social media fun “during the day” while helping freelancers on their journey “after hours”!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would have to say curiosity for one, as without that I wouldn’t have started on such a new and different journey. resilience would have to be one as well as this journey is naturally filled with ups and downs. And lastly, I would say willingness to help, as that’s been a big factor in what’s gotten me this far in freelancing – the will to help my client succeed and almost treat their business as I would, my own. And if I can say an honorable man would be creativity, as sometimes problem-solving does require some thinking outside the box 😉

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always looking to connect with fellow freelancers, and whatever stage of their journey, whether it are just starting out and could use some tips, or they are well-versed in their craft and could become eventual referral buddies as I typically get clients with very needs and often look to my network in order to help those clients find the perfect solution to their problem.
