We were lucky to catch up with Shenora Lechleidner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shenora, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is something so engrained in my upbringing, I did not realize that I showed it in my life until someone told me. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan by an entrepreneur father who was also a Pastor. Our life was full of unexpected pivots and challenges, but I never saw my father give up. He always had a solution for every challenge that would benefit not just our family, but many others. My dad taught me that when we have hardships, it gives us the power to have compassion on those who are often overlooked. I watched my maternal grandmother serve the community and her church with dedication and compassion no matter what personal obstacles she encountered. They both brought me along for the ride. Most of my childhood was spent serving and solving problems alongside my family. They taught me that the prioritizing the mission regardless of the opinions of others is the key to continued success. My grandmother often advised me to remember that all that I say and do is not to please man, but God. So when I battled with health, infertility, postpartum complications, housing insecurity, business fluctuations, and other life challenges, I remained confident that it was necessary for my life mission.
Every problem can be solved with faith, the right mindset, compassionate people who can see beyond the surface, and the endurance to not give up.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Shenora “Shemama” Lechleidner. I am a bra replacement specialist with Ruby Ribbon. I am also a wife and mother of 3. My nickname “SHEMAMA” was given to me by cousin many years ago due to my nurturing spirit. I love people and helping them find solutions to problems. One of the problems that most women have is a painful underwire bra. and they come to me, “The Underwire Slayer” for solutions.
I offer in demand, supportive wireless bra replacements know as camis and demiettes for women in all stages of life, sizes 26A-56Q cups.
Our innovative moisture wicking material offers 360° of variable compression, molded cups, bonded shaping panels, and a surgical grade silicone gripper to keep it all in place.
The women I serve are multigenerational because Ruby Ribbon is for every woman no matter her age, body shape, or cup size.
I offer personalized fittings virtually as well as in person. Since my business started in 2020, a lot of my clientele is spread out all over the country and in Canada. When women shop with me, they are invited into my very supportive Facebook VIP, “The Underwire Slayer Suite”. It is an online community that I created for women to not only learn about my products, but to celebrate one another and support one another when life gets a little challenging.
It is my joy to connect with clients to help them obtain relief and increased confidence when they ditch their brama(bra-drama) with Shemama!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of my natural gifts is supporting others. In previous workforce years, I often gravitated to customer service positions. I had experience working in a call center that demanded that I established a trusting relationship with clients even without being in person. I also had the privilege of working in a plus size retail store where I had the most fun styling women! I was sizing them for their bras and shapewear not knowing I would use those skills later in life with more comfortable products. It was there that I had to learn that women battle so many things silently and those battles can be projected when in an intimate space of shopping for clothes and underwear. I am a firm believer that people should leave my presence feeling better about their day. My most valuable skill in life and business has been authenticity. I love that I get to be myself when dealing with others. People remember how you make them feel and they will tell others! Being able to express genuine compassion and concern for others regardless of the response is one of my superpowers that has been a key component of my longevity and success. My advice to others who are new to entrepreneurship is to be yourself and realize that you were already equipped with the natural skills to succeed at what you do. Do not try to do business like everyone else. It will not serve you nor your clientele well. Be confident in your own brand even if there are other people doing what you do. I highly suggest getting a mentor to guide you through your journey so that when you doubt yourself, they can lead you back on the right path and keep you accountable.
How would you describe your ideal client?
Every client is ideal to me because my goal is to help as many people I can know that there is a healthier way of obtaining breast support. I have helped young girls, moms, grandmothers, caregivers, nurses, law enforcement officers, educators, breast cancer warriors, and other entrepreneurs over the years. The ideal client I seek to have is the corporate woman who is making waves in her industry while also wanting to look her very best. This woman has spent most of her day proving that she is worth to be in the spaces she occupies. She may also be a woman who comes home to immediately become someone’s wife or mom. I cannot wait for Ruby Ribbon to be her little secret under the business suit. She is the woman who takes her bra off before or as soon as she hits her front door or possibly on the car ride home. She has been accustomed to being “caged up” all day without any hope of relief.
I desire to free her forever with Ruby Ribbon products so that she can tackle the rest of life in comfort and confidence.
