We caught up with the brilliant and insightful St4rboy! a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi St4rboy! , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Well as a music artist, I have a very common artist name “St4rboy!” And on top of that I’m a twin and everyone tries to compare me to my brother or The Weeknd but i blow past that because I have drive and passion for what I do. I have such a unique sound and cadence that i guarantee will see the light of day soon enough to the world one day.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a genreless musical artist who knows no bounds and as limited to ideas as the stars.. hence “St4rboy!” My mind comes up with whatever idea musically and I just follow it and when I get a beat I just listen to the beat and my heart and it will tell me to write and how the delivery and cadence will emerge. My ultimate goal is to relate and reach others no matter their music taste, I’ve grown up listening to so many different genres of music and now I implement that into my music, no matter if it’s an experience I’ve had or it’s one I deem relatable I’ll do my best to incorporate that into a way everyone can relate no matter who they are. And one day my name will grow and others will get to know me and I’ll be doing tours and I’ll get to interact with everyone who’s ever supported me and that’s what I strive for.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My 3 biggest qualities or skills would be
Stay dedicated
Stay consistent
Be willing to learn from others and stay humble
I’ve struggled heavily with being dedicated and consistent and even being humble at time because I’ve seen so many artist before make it when i believed that I’m just as good as them or even better, but I’ve come to realize that I can’t think like that, I shaped my thinking into this, “I’m proud of you, and I’ll see you up there right along with you soon” my friend and artist “luvtj” reminded me of that very important fact and I live by that when it comes to music.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Well as an artist who isn’t bound by genre I really want to collaborate with d4vd he’s done so many amazing things and he’s literally my age and he’s making sad chill songs but also hard crazy rap songs with 21 savage and I feel like he falls perfectly into the genre-less esque that i believe I am.
