Meet Prolific Wone

We were lucky to catch up with Prolific Wone recently and have shared our conversation below.

Prolific , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism stems from literally coming from the lowest rungs of society and knowing that even at my highest points I could go right back to the bottom and still survive and even thrive. There’s resiliency and optimism born out of poverty, loss and hardship.

Once you’ve survived it, you know that you can overcome most anything, so no matter how first world issues you face, you understand what the term “it could be worse,” really means.

You also learn patience and how to see silver linings where others may not.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Creative Artist, Curator and Entrepreneur in the New York City art scene. I’ve been making music for over 20 years and I’m a co-founder of the globally acclaimed hip-hop brand End of the Weak.

Recently I have been on a roll with a series of single releases that have garnered widespread acclaim. Each release showcases my unique style of lyrics, creativity and my unwavering commitment to delivering authentic and high-quality art.

In addition to my musical endeavors, I am also the creator of the street art brand, “Shooters Street Art,” popularized for our signature street art scavenger hunt.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Interpersonal skills – I truly believe in “it’s who you know.” combined with what you know…the latter sometimes less so.

Due diligence – Cross all the T’s and dot all the I’s, there are no shortcuts to preparedness.

Forgiveness – Forgive yourself and others. Your dream is only most important to you, and no one else. Forgive others that are not as invested and don’t be discouraged with yourself, just keep doing the work.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
If you feel overwhelmed, you’re doing too much, or doing too much of what’s not meaningful to you.

Shedding the baggage is difficult, especially with external demands and the things we accept because we don’t know how to say no.

Learn how to say no and feel ok about it. Learn how to edit and be effective where it matters.

Everything else can be left to work itself out, or return when you have the capacity to manage it on your own terms.

Never feel forced.
