We recently connected with Danielle Munn and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Danielle hails from Revere, Massachusetts. Her resilience, she believes, stems from the many challenges she’s confronted and conquered. Among these trials, she’s faced the loss of several family members, providing care and comfort as they passed. Her father’s disability at a young age shifted their dynamic, making him her stay-at-home dad. He filled roles beyond fatherhood, becoming her closest confidant, mentor, and guardian. Instilling in her the belief that gender should never limit capability, he equipped her with an array of life skills—from culinary mastery to automotive maintenance. Danielle’s journey has been marked by hardships like teen pregnancy, early marriage, widowhood, and surviving domestic abuse, yet through it all, she’s never wavered. She attributes her unwavering strength to the wisdom and preparation imparted by her father, who seemed to foresee the challenges she would face and ensured she was ready to meet them head-on.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Multitasking and Adaptability: Throughout my journey, the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously has been incredibly impactful. While some may see this as a symptom of ADHD, I view it as a valuable skill that allows me to remain flexible and adapt to changing circumstances efficiently. This capacity for multitasking enables me to manage various responsibilities effectively and maintain productivity even in dynamic environments.
Quick Thinking and Problem-Solving: Another key quality that has significantly influenced my journey is my ability to think fast on my feet. While this trait may be associated with ADHD, I see it as a strength that enables me to make swift decisions and find innovative solutions to challenges as they arise. Whether facing unexpected obstacles or seizing opportunities, my quick thinking skills have been instrumental in navigating through complex situations with agility and confidence.
Persistence and Determination: Lastly, my refusal to accept failure and inherent stubbornness have played a pivotal role in driving me forward despite obstacles. While some may perceive these traits as symptoms of ADHD, I consider them essential attributes that fuel my determination to succeed. This unwavering commitment to my goals empowers me to persevere in the face of adversity, maintain focus on my objectives, and ultimately achieve success even in the most challenging circumstances.
My best advice is to embrace your uniqueness.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Our primary challenge stems from insufficient funding. The economic downturn has led to a decline in our retail sales, while the demand for assistance among our community members has surged. Our retail operations, managed by Witch Slapped, must cover both overhead costs and payroll, in addition to supporting vital community service projects. Unfortunately, our current revenue stream falls short of funding all the programs we aspire to sustain. To address this gap, we’ve resorted to more frequent fundraisers, which, although successful, detract from our retail sales. In response, I propose establishing a non-profit organization to spearhead the creation of the Witch Slapped Community Center. This initiative involves assembling a dedicated Board of Directors, pursuing grant opportunities, and conducting fundraising activities. Ultimately, our goal is to establish a sanctuary akin to a church for witches, providing essential services and support to our community.
