Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Teresa Maynard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Teresa, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience stems from my unwavering passion for baking and my determination to succeed despite challenges. Being a working mom and entrepreneur, I draw strength from my commitment to providing for my family while pursuing my dreams. Every setback I face fuels my determination to overcome obstacles and build a thriving business. Additionally, my strong support network of family, friends, and mentors provides invaluable encouragement and guidance, helping me navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship with resilience and perseverance.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I specialize in crafting delectable baked goods, from cupcakes and cakes to brownies and pies. What excites me most about my work is the joy it brings to people’s lives. Baking is my passion, and being able to share my creations with others is incredibly rewarding. I’m thrilled to announce that Sweet Teez will soon open its new brick-and-mortar location in the vibrant Dot Block neighborhood of Dorchester, MA, this Fall. This expansion marks an exciting new chapter for my brand, allowing us to better serve our community with our delicious treats and warm hospitality. Stay tuned for more updates and special events as we embark on this new journey!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities were resilience, uniqueness, and personality. Family support and mentorship played a huge role. There were many challenging moments when I considered returning to my corporate job, but I chose to persevere and continue pursuing my passion for baking. My advice for those early in their journey is to cultivate resilience, lean on your family for support, and seek guidance from mentors who can offer valuable insights and advice. These qualities have been instrumental in my success, and I believe they can help others navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship with greater confidence and determination.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
In my journey, my mentor and friend J Gustavo has been incredibly instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop essential skills for success. Beyond mere consultation, J Gustavo has provided invaluable guidance, support, and wisdom that have shaped my approach to entrepreneurship. Their mentorship has not only helped me navigate obstacles but also encouraged me to hone my skills, cultivate resilience, and pursue my goals with determination. I am immensely grateful for their unwavering support and mentorship, which have been crucial in my journey toward building Sweet Teez Bakery.
