We were lucky to catch up with Adrienne Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrienne, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My mom was a big part of where I get my resilience. She was really driven, and always pushed me and my siblings to work hard and succeed. Even when things got tough, she’d tell us, “If you’re at the end of your rope, just tie a knot in it and hold on.” That mentality of never giving up has really stuck with me.
I’m also just someone who is always trying to do things better. Whether it’s making an even better product or finding a more efficient way to get work done, I’m always looking to improve. And the reason I do that is that I love helping people. When I put in my full effort and still can’t quite get the job done, it really bothers me. I hate the feeling of letting someone down.
So I’d say my resilience comes from both my mom’s example of determination and persistence, and my personal drive to constantly improve and help others as much as I can. Even when things get hard, that combination keeps me going.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As an instructional designer, I get to do something really cool – I find ways to make learning fun! Everything I do, from creating cool pictures to breaking down complex topics into easy-to-understand chunks, is all about helping my participants connect with the material and use it in their everyday lives.
You know, before AI came along, I used tools like Grammarly and Quillbot to help me become a better writer. But now, AI is like an extension of that – I can just put my thoughts and ideas into the AI, and it helps me make them even better. Or it gives me keywords I can use to find the perfect images or examples to really bring the content to life. It’s so exciting!
In fact, AI has fascinated me ever since I was a kid who loved art and drawing. When I’m designing a course or creating content, it almost feels like I’m just coloring and making things look fun and interesting – because I want my participants to feel like they’re not even learning, they’re just exploring and discovering. And that’s where AI comes in handy – it helps me turn my ideas into reality, whether that’s through words, visuals, or interactive experiences.
I really feel like I’ve had a “Helen Keller” moment, where AI has helped me uncover the words and ways to explain what’s been inside me all along. The computer is never at a loss for words, so if I give it enough information, it can fill in the gaps and make my vision even better. And that’s why I’m so excited to share this technology with others, especially women 40 and up.
You see, a lot of women are hesitant about tech, but I believe we have so much knowledge and experience to offer the next generation. With AI, we can preserve that wisdom and share it in really engaging, interactive ways – from virtual museums to voice-controlled cookbooks. It’s like our own “Fortress of Wisdom” that we can use to empower ourselves and others.
So if you’re curious about AI and how it can help you in your personal or professional life, I’d love to chat! My organization, Digital Wisdom, is all about igniting that passion and showing people what’s possible. Let’s explore how AI can streamline your workflows, boost your creativity, and make your life a little bit easier. The future is bright, and I can’t wait to help you discover it!
You know, besides my fascination with AI and helping others discover its potential, I also teach classes on some other really valuable skills. Like how to write effective prompts that let you communicate exactly what you want to an AI assistant. And social media management strategies so you can plan out awesome content for weeks or even months at a time.
Whether you’re trying to incorporate AI into your professional life or your personal one, I’m here to help. I firmly believe that we all have to start somewhere, so I’ll meet you right where you are and guide you through the process of growing your skills and confidence.
What’s that? You want to learn more? Awesome! You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as @ourdigitalwisdom, or shoot me an email at [email protected]. I’m always excited to chat with new people and share my knowledge and passion for all things tech and AI.
Maybe you want to streamline your recipe organization with AI-powered scanning and voice control. Or possibly you need help to craft the perfect email with just a few keywords. Whatever it is, I’m here to show you that AI isn’t as scary as it might seem. It can completely transform your life, making it easier, more efficient, and much more enjoyable!
Don’t hesitate – get in touch and let’s start. I’m amped to help you unlock the power of AI, boost your productivity, and maybe even discover a new hobby or side hustle. The future is bright, my friends, and I can’t wait to explore it together!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Being curious is huge for me. I’m always asking questions and digging into the “why” and “how” of things. Whether it’s a new technology, a problem I’m trying to solve, or just trying to understand someone else’s point of view – I’m endlessly interested in figuring it all out. That curiosity is a big part of what keeps me engaged and learning new stuff all the time.
And you know, I’m a firm believer in continuing to learn and grow throughout your life. I’m always seeking new knowledge, whether that’s taking a class, reading the latest news in my field, or trying out different tools and techniques. I know that if I stop growing, I’ll start falling behind. So I’m committed to always improving and expanding my skills.
But the most important thing to me, I want to help people and make a positive difference. There’s this quote I love that says, “People don’t care what you know until they know you care.” And it’s so true. No matter what situation I’m in, if people can tell that I genuinely care and want to help them out, they’re way more open to giving me a chance. They know my heart is in the right place.
When you put all of that together – curiosity, lifelong learning, and a desire to help others – it creates a powerful combination. I’m constantly expanding my knowledge and abilities, but I’m also staying focused on how I can use that to make things better for the surrounding people. That’s the mindset that’s really helped me overcome challenges, take advantage of opportunities, and gives me the satisfaction of knowing I made a difference. Someone else’s life is better because of me.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
You know, the kind of people I’d really love to collaborate with are women who are 40 and over, because they’re often so curious and eager to improve their lives and put their knowledge and experience to work.
Here’s the thing – to get the most out of AI, you have to have a clear idea of what you’re trying to accomplish. AI is powerful, but it can also make mistakes if it doesn’t have that human touch to make sure the final product is exactly right. And who better to provide that human filter than women who’ve already learned so much through the years, right?
I mean, imagine having access to someone who’s worked in your job for ages and can give you the inside scoop on the most important parts of the work. Or picture being able to interact with a virtual mentor – an experienced person who can teach you how to tackle all kinds of tasks and challenges. Heck, parents could even leave personalized messages for their grandkids or future generations, passing down their wisdom in a really cool way.
That’s why I’m so jazzed to partner with curious, lifelong learning-minded women 40 and up. They’ve got knowledge and skills that are pure gold, and I want to help them unlock the full potential of AI to share that with the world. Whether it’s creating interactive educational experiences, building online businesses, or just preserving their legacies, I really believe this is a group that can do amazing things when you put AI in their capable hands.
So if you’re a woman 40 or over who’s excited about the possibilities of technology and you want to use your know-how to make a difference, let’s connect! I’d love to chat more about how we can work together. Who knows, we might just end up changing the world.
