Meet Bernard Taylor

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bernard Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernard, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my mother, who I watched raise 5 children by herself on a low salary, working over 40 hours a week, and never complaining about how hard it was or giving up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a firefighter, the most exciting part of my job is training and working with a crew that you enjoy being with. The thing that is special about being a firefighter is that you get to be there to help and serve the community.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My work ethic, discipline, and dedication to being the best are three things that were most impactful to me in my journey. You have to want to achieve your goals more than you want things that might be detrimental or distract you from reaching your goals.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did, was keeping me grounded and teaching me about God and to trust in him and everything will take care of itself.
