Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chas West. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chas, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
From the first time I was onstage around 5-6 years old singing and playing guitar at a Christmas pageant I loved it and felt very comfortable in front of an audience and knew deep down even at that age…this is where I belong. Years later when I was about 13-14 years old I saw my first major concert and the lead singer was amazing and I knew right then and there that I could do that…and that’s what I want to do with my life as a career!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My first major break came when I was chosen as the lead vocalist for the band Bonham/The Jason Bonham Band (Son of the late John Bonham of Led Zeppelin) and got to live many of my dreams and goals releasing 2 records on Sony Music and touring the world over playing to upwards of one hundred thousand people. After that ended I toured and/or recorded as lead vocalist for the bands Lynch Mob, Foreigner, Sweet, Tribe Of Gypsies, Jake E Lee etc.
I formed my own band called West Bound in 2019 and released one record on Frontiers Music entitled West Bound Volume I. We toured to critical acclaim throughout the USA and were set to tour overseas until the pandemic in 2020 put a stop to that.
We resumed touring again in 2022.
West Bound signed a new deal with a new label called Legendary Artists LLC in 2023 and are currently working on our 2nd record to be released in 2025. We released the first single/video “Don’t Stand In My Sunshine”in late 2023.
Besides West Bound I also have an All-Star Led Zeppelin tribute band called The Moby Dicks made up of members from Whitesnake, Ozzy, Billy Idol, Sebastian Bach etc.
I’m also involved in an animal rescue shelter/foundation in honor of my furry daughter who just recently crossed the Rainbow bridge!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Practice Persistence
Belief in yourself and your talent and don’t listen to the haters/naysayers and stay away from toxic people/situations
Work on improving your craft every day
Always keep your eyes/ears open for opportunities
Follow your heart and soul
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Since I was a young boy my late Mother always encouraged me to go after my dreams and goals and don’t listen to people that will ridicule and put you down!
I never would have had any success without her encouragement.
Be a dreamer and a do er!
