We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alfred Collins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Alfred with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I would say my parents, watching how determined they were. I was blessed along with my brothers and sisters to see our parents work ethic. They were able to show us when you’re called to do something, always give it your best. Be on time, be honest and respectable, and care about what you do for a living. I remember watching my father getting up early in the morning, going to work in the freezing weather. My mother would work non-stop to help provide for us as a family. They both told us to never give up on your dreams, keep God First and all that you do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Professionally I’m locked in on becoming more of a business owner. I’m a chef at a senior living resident, and I love what I do. I thank God for this opportunity to serve my gift. My gift is an art, I look at the world as my canvas, I have this awesome opportunity to create a masterpiece each time I present a meal. Mr. “C”s BBQ & CUISINE’S is my up and coming business. I have some events coming up, that I’m excited about. I look forward to expanding my business and connecting with others that are doing the same. Launching out ino the deep is what I stand by.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say Faith, obedience and trust in God would be my top three qualities to hold everything together. Along with wisdom and patience has to have their own place as one continues to grow on this journey. The advice I would give, step outside of your environment, and connect to others that are outside of your business industry. Get out and visit different events, I love art shows because you can learn so much from an artist.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes I’m looking for folks to work with, they can connect with me on Facebook under Alfred Collins. I have already connected with editors, photographers, film producers and some musicians. Being in the food industry you come across a lot of folks that’s doing different things. Food has the ability to bring people together for to share moments that will last a lifetime.
