Meet Holly Daigle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Holly Daigle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Holly below.

Holly, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My parents are some of the hardest workers I know, I definitely got my work ethic and drive from them. I started working at 13 as a babysitter, from there waitressing through high school until I became a hairdresser. Being a hard worker is something I’ve always taken a lot of pride in. I will say it definitely makes a big difference when you love what you do, and I’m so thankful I have found that in my career!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a hairstylist of 17 years, originally from Massachusetts. I moved to Los Angeles about 8 years ago for an overall change of scenery and opportunities to expand my skill set. I’ve learned a lot personally and professionally in my time here! Sometimes sitting in a salon chair is like a truth serum, which allows me to form really close relationships with my clients. Getting to know people and creating these friendships has always been my favorite part of the job. I specialize in hair color, which is my other favorite part of the job! Hair color trends are always changing and I love getting creative and trying new techniques. I’ve really grown as a hairstylist since moving to Los Angeles.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Having a love for meeting new people, a strong work ethic, and getting to make people feel good about themselves have been the most impactful parts of my career so far. When clients leave my chair with a new cut or color it changes their whole vibe, and the confidence they radiate is the best feeling ever! My advice for hairstylist just starting out would be so get as much hands on experience as you can. Try not to over think it if you make a mistake, learn from it, and trust the process!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My mom and dad have always been my biggest fans and #1 cheerleaders. So the most impactful thing they’ve ever done for me is giving me all their love and support making sure I know I can count on them for anything. I REALLY tested their limits when I was a teenager but they have stuck with me through thick and thin!
