Meet Lucy Williamson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lucy Williamson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lucy below.

Hi Lucy, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
As co-founders both myself and Nicole had good careers that we had worked hard for and had to leave to start building the Pelle Naturale brand. I worked in corporate hospitality and Nicole was a university lecturer. As young women in the work world we developed resilience whilst we built these careers throughout our twenties. Once we decided to start Pelle Naturale so many people, including family and friends, doubted that the company could work. Business advisors and lawyers told us we needed a minimum of a million dollars investment to make it work.
The key to resilience in business is to ignore internal and external doubts. It is to find people who share your vision, believe in you as a leader and influencer and to work consistently to your goals, no matter how outrageous others may find them.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We founded Pelle Naturale and have been driven by friendship and our belief in one another. Pelle Naturale is a business for friends who become family and where entrepreneurship, happiness and self-belief are celebrated.
We were inspired to create Pelle Naturale because of our love for the healthy Mediterranean lifestyle and its produce. We came together to develop a skincare line that reflects sunset evenings, the scent of olive gardens and feeling of the warm ocean.

Whilst aspiring to find our own financial freedom Nicole and I designed Pelle Naturale to also create and support a community of freedom. Offering the opportunity to achieve your dreams. A community of friends building businesses for their future.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Hard work and self-belief are the most important qualities that anyone starting or running a business should have. If you don’t believe in yourself then no one will. Having a business plan or idea that you know and believe to be impactful on others is also important. At Pelle Naturale we started a brand that was based on creating ethical products and helping others to build their own business.
Try to think about a business idea that will be valuable to the world around you and then work on it everyday until you see results. Be organized and ambitious and you will see positive outcomes.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
As business owners it is sometimes overwhelming thinking of all the jobs you need to achieve in a day. Having a business partner, a person you can trust to talk to in the times that you feel exhausted with entrepreneurial life can be helpful. We discuss all our concerns and make online shared to-do lists, as we work on each issue, we tick it off the list. This helps us to stay organized and focused at all times.
