Meet Corey Frank

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Corey Frank, the man behind two evolving brands in arts, entertainment and media. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Corey, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
As cliche as it may sound, mental health is wealth and five years ago, I had lost my worth and wasn’t aware of it. I was experiencing an identity crisis and it took one of my close friends to bring it to my attention. The journey began with major adjustments and sudden transitions as I leaned heavily into my personal relationship with Christ. My spiritual connection continues to be the source that connects me to the success story and testimony I am today.

Community and resources are secondary sources that I embraced to identify what route I desired to restore my mental health. Repetitive behaviors became a thing of the past as self-evaluation demonstrated who and what I no longer needed to be connected to and with. Doing so made room for new and more people and things to become beneficial towards my well being developing the four aspects of loving myself wholeheartedly.

In order to love yourself wholeheartedly, not only should you be focused on your mental aspect though also spiritual, physical and emotional aspects. It was embracing all aspects as a whole in which I witnessed fulfillment began to birth itself inside of me. Decision making changed for the better in all environments whether personal or professional. We tend to overlook the “quality over quantity” aspect when things are high though when things are opposite, a wake-up call presents itself.

Today, I am grateful to have developed a wellness regimen of self-care that keeps me joyful and hopeful daily. Mondays are my wellness days. I focus on my favorites creating a space of rejuvenation allowing me to recharge and refocus. It’s important not to discipline yourself on strict calendar appointments though creating space for leniency for impromptu moments and adjustments where necessary to reschedule/postpone when conflict arises.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
English has been my passion since childhood and upon entering middle school, I developed the desire for public speaking and human interaction. It was during my years of high school and college I developed the call for being “the voice” for humankind. Collectively, the desire and call evolved me into the visionary I am today.

Spoken Red, my Public Relations and Communications brand, has been in existence for 17 years and counting. It began as a blog experience through Yahoo360 and Facebook in which I was doing poetry and spoken word at various events. Not long after, I began hosting and curating events serving as event planner, coordinator and host. Over the years, the brand now runs as a full service Public Relations and Communications group servicing Louisiana and select parts of Texas. Services we offer though aren’t limited to include branding, consultations, content creation, dance instruction, style consultation, event planning and coordination and photography.

What’s so exciting about Spoken Red is that we bring amateurs into the spotlight! Often times, individuals and businesses have untapped potential they are uncertain how to ignite and we are the driving force to do so! All it takes is one consultation! We are now expanding our services nationwide to all interested parties.

To Be Frank FRANK: the podcast is my latest venture in which I serve as the official podcast host with the slogan, “Frankly Speaking it had to be said.” This podcast is on YouTube and has entered its second season approaching its third! To Be Frank FRANK: the podcast features a variety of guests having impromptu conversations frankly with me. No scripts, no scripts, NO SCRIPTS! My mission with the podcast has a tagline, “Say what you gotta say the first time, not the next time” because I don’t want guests to be robotic on the show. Authenticity increases the influence to have effective communication and maintain healthy connection while doing so. You may be unaware how effective your message or story can impact and influence the listener.

Just like a local coffee shop, I am brewing some hot treats coming sooner and than later! From speaking engagements, hosting opportunities, dance parties… subscribe to the notifications on my social media outlets and my website! Leave some comments so I can say hello!

One more thing, I am huge on advocacy! I want to encourage all readers to take a moment and support youth nonprofit causes. CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline, Inc. is a voice for youth that have been abused and neglected and now placed in foster care. Year round, they seek individuals to serve as advocates for the youth with in home visits once a month. I want to encourage adults passionate about youth, especially men, to take a moment and sign up to learn more about volunteering.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Communication, leadership and empathy are the three most important qualities continuously impacting my journey. Communication effectively keeps the channels clear and open. Leadership builds you to constantly evolve and conquer goals of all sorts. Empathy helps you to nurture others without offense and discomfort.

I advise those within their journey to find your three qualities during moments of solitude. Before the books, the courses, the trainings…find yourself during solitude and observe how effectively you will connect to your skills and areas of knowledge. Embrace your passions and tenacities that develop persistence and consistency.

By all means, please don’t wait until hard stops or difficulties to arise. Identify your niches with the communities that match what you desire.

When you walk in rooms, SPEAK to people, at least 7 of them you don’t know and watch how much your light brightens up the room! BE YOU and WIN! That’s the only person we are interested in and rooting for.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Most definitely. I am seeking partnerships and collaborations nationwide especially within the Southern region of the U.S. This year, my current goal is increase in speaking engagements, hosting opportunities and event coordination whether its in person or virtual. My desire is to connect with investors, podcast hosts, tv and radio personalities, corporate conference hosts, entertainers and all of those in dire need of my services!
