We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Melissa Rosenberg a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Melissa , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
The greatest way that I developed my confidence and self-esteem was from finding all of my confidence in my Savior, Jesus Christ. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a PhD and Counselor Education. I have traveled the United States and around the world presenting at conferences. I have a published dissertation and memoir. I have had a successful private practice, and I have taught at University as a faculty member for graduate students. But until I truly found my complete security in my relationship with God and my identity, as a child of God, my confidence and self-esteem always wavered, depending on my external accomplishments and achievements.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am Dr. Melissa Rosenberg, The Secure Attachment Coach. I specialize in collaborating with Holy Spirit in the metamorphosis of men and women from insecure, anxious, and avoidant states of attachment to Secure Attachment to God, self, and others. I lead men and women to Secure Attachment through partnering with DIVINE TRUTH, WISDOM, HEALING, and DESTINY. I see clients virtually and globally!
I am an expert in treating individuals who have experienced narcissistic abuse, addictions, trauma from family of origin abuse, in marriages and family relationships, as well as in church and spiritual communities. I help people identify the roots of the maladaptive childhood programming that has created a pattern of dysfunction in their adult relationships, and to heal the lies that they believe about themselves due to trauma wounds, and to replace these negative beliefs, with truth of Jesus Christ. I also help people struggling with both chemical and behavioral addictions, whether drugs and alcohol codependency, pornography, workaholism or perfectionism in order to be set free so they can live the abundant life that Jesus paid for.
My goal is to help people live balanced lives full of freedom and joy, and to be able to enjoy abundance in all areas of their lives including: healthy relationship with themselves and with God, healthy intimate dating relationships and marriages, healthy bodies and minds, healthy careers and ministries, healthy businesses as entrepreneurs, and healthy work as change agents in their communities, states, regions and around the world!
I utilize my background as an expert Attachment Focused EMDR Trauma Therapist, and Counselor Educator, to shift men and women’s emotional, mental, and behavioral landscape from a product of trauma to a Masterpiece of Purpose. My ultimate goal in Attachment Coaching is for men and women to understand, embrace, and walk out the fullness of his or her identity in Christ, in every area of his or her life, and to have healthy, safe, and secure relationships with himself or herself, God, and others.
Have you battled with insecurity, a lack of self-esteem, and self-worth for your entire life, wondering if you will ever feel like you are enough for yourself, for God, and for others?
Do you want to finally fully trust God and yourself to make healthy choices for your present life, and your future?
Do you want to eliminate self-doubt, and feel confident about your life choices?
Do you want to fully harness your gifts, skills, talents, and creativity, in order to create a successful business that you love while helping other people?
Do you want to thrive in your personal and professional life, and stop saying no to adventure because of a fear of failure?
Would you like to gain the confidence and clarity to fully embrace and step into your calling, career, and ministry?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, I have your solution!
I was once right where you are now. For years, I struggled with a profound sense of unworthiness and self-criticism. I engaged in perfectionism and endless performance and striving, attempting to earn a feeling of being good enough, and worthy of love. I engaged in people pleasing, a lack of boundaries, and unsafe relationships.
I attempted to self-medicate symptoms of depression and anxiety through addictive behaviors including eating disorders, relationship addiction, and achievement and approval addiction. I numbed myself with substances such as food and alcohol.
But all of these self sabotaging behaviors only led to an ever deepening sense of isolation, guilt, and shame, and left me feeling even more exhausted and discouraged than when I began.
It wasn’t until I went through a deep inner healing journey, and process of finding my complete and total secure attachment to God and myself, that I became fully free and fully whole.
Now I want to take the wisdom of my 20 year journey to find my freedom, and share it with you!
Majesty, Power, and Beauty are already available to you. There are no limits to God’s giving. But there may be to your accepting and receiving. Are you ready for MORE?!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Knowing my value and worth through my identity in Christ. * Knowing your value value and worth, and the fact that you’re worth and value are inherent to you and unchanging because of your identity in Christ is absolutely crucial. It’s important to understand that you are a child of God and your value and words does not shift upon other peoples opinions of you or whether or not they accept you your value remains consistent, no matter what!
2. Safe and supportive relationships.
* The most important thing that you have in your life beyond the recognition instability of your own value in God are safe and secure relationships with other others emotional safety in close relationships is paramount to your development, both personally and professionally, and there is nothing more valuable in your life, then the relationships and people who you surround yourself with make sure you invest in your relationships make sure that they are relationships that are built upon trust, loyalty, love, respect, and reciprocity.
3. Continual self-awareness and self improvement.
*The Bible Tells us that we are transformed by the renewing of her mind. This means that we must constantly monitor what we are taking into our mind both through our eyes and through our ears we must always propel ourselves forward because the kingdom of heaven is built on a fundamental principle of glory to glory, which means that God is always progressing forward. He is always wanting to grow up, heal us, and change us for the better! We must come out of denial and out of maladaptive coping mechanisms from the past and destructive relationships and always put our own growth as paramount in our lives.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am looking for people who are interested in developing true authentic collaborations to help people, overcome adversity and trauma from their past as a trauma informed expert in the world of therapy and coaching my goal is to get the message of healing out to as many people as possible, I’m interested in working with speakers, minister, teachers, counselors, and coaches who have the same love and passion for helping people to push against the old self-limiting beliefs and lies that have held them captive, and to grow into all God dreamed for them to be!
