We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hunter Lambert a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hunter, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Giving myself the appropriate time and space to intently work on grounding my energy and letting myself exist right where I am in life helps me tremendously. I love to do this by connecting with nature and taking time to appreciate all the beauty that surrounds me from day to day.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Having written and performed music from a very young age, I feel grateful to have gained experience and to have crafted an ear for artisty that comes from a very pure, highly emotive place. The majority of my experiences getting started in music were centered around Gospel and Soul. In turn, it became equally as important to me to not only deliver vocal performances that were top tier but, to ensure that the energy and intent behind the song were as emotive as it could possibly be. This led me to loving the discovery of new talent and having a passion for cultivating authentic sounds as well as helping these authentic artists find their road to success. Music Licensing allows me to present local artists and composers with opportunities and fast tracks to exposure through tv and film that can be highly difficult to succeed at on their own. Seeing the local creatives of Indianapolis receive recognition that then drive their streams up and help them gain traction and/or followers is a special privilege that I will never take for granted and something that keeps me passionate about this profession on a daily basis.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Find a support system that understands your vision and that its focused on ensuring that you reach your goals. Accountability is everything.
2. Pertaining to art, give yourself grace. Let yourself mess up. Gain inspiration from everywhere. Grow, grow, grow.
3. Be willing to work for free to gain the knowledge that experience brings. Mentorship in ANY area of the Music Industry will be crucial to your growth.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to connect with artists, bands, composers and musicians in the city as well as the surrounding areas. Find me on Insta @hunterlambert 🙂
