We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maranda Taylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maranda below.
Maranda, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I cultivated my confidence and self-esteem by reaching a point where I simply stopped caring about others’ opinions. Living in constant worry about pleasing everyone around you is incredibly challenging. However, the day I decided to embrace my true self, act authentically, and cease striving to meet others’ expectations marked a turning point in my confidence.
It’s common for people in our lives to undermine us, attempting to diminish our sense of worth. Whether you’re at the top or bottom of the social hierarchy, this remains true. Yet, it’s liberating to realize that you can genuinely be yourself without concern for others’ judgments.
When you stand before the mirror and affirm, “I am beautiful, brave, powerful, smart, confident, capable of anything, and say I am simply enough,” you begin to profoundly impact not only your own life but also the lives of those around you. This mindset shift has the power to transform lives and create a brighter future for yourself and others.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When people ask me what I do or what I’m capable of, I always respond with the same thing: my job is to help people. When I reflect on the life I want to lead and where I aim to be, I envision someone whom my parents and my children would be proud to know.
I aspire for my daughter to confidently declare, “My mom is Maranda Taylor,” and to recognize that her mom made a difference in the world, even if it’s not on a global scale, but in someone’s world. So when asked about my profession, I simply say, “I help people,” whether it’s in real estate, business, or any other capacity.
Specifically, I assist individuals who lack a clear path to homeownership because I believe everyone deserves the necessary tools to achieve their desires. Moreover, I prioritize being a relatable human being in all interactions, integrating motivational elements into my approach.
Having traversed numerous hardships, I find meaning in empowering others with the tools they need to navigate their own journeys. Therefore, I consider my life’s purpose to be equipping people with the resources to reach their destinations and alleviating their burdens along the way.
Wearing multiple hats can indeed be overwhelming, but fundamentally, my role revolves around aiding others. I firmly believe that with the right tools, anyone can build a bridge to anywhere, and it’s my responsibility to provide these tools and facilitate their journey.
A sign on my door reads, “Beyond this point, you will forever be changed. You are driven, capable, intelligent, brave, powerful, and enough.” Every individual who enters is met with the same energy: be authentic, and I’m here to support you in any way because you are capable of extraordinary things.
As people depart from my office or my presence, I genuinely hope they leave transformed for the better, knowing that I played a part in enhancing their lives.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe the three most important things that have helped me along my journey have been not being afraid to fail. Overcoming failure is something that is really difficult, but it’s when you learn the most. You have to not be afraid to fail, and you have to fail so many times in order to figure out how to actually do something right and to be able to share knowledge. Failure is what makes you truly successful because without failure, you do not know what success is.
Another thing that I think has been a huge help along the way is support and learning to ask for help. I think sometimes we get in our way, and we don’t ask for help when we need it. I think self-made is something that is not really a thing because it truly does take a village to raise a child and it takes a village to raise a person. And I would not be where I’m at today without support and without knowing who to ask questions to and getting business coaches, getting friends involved, getting family involved, getting a huge support system of people who just genuinely want to see you succeed. It’s so important.
And lastly, I believe another crucial aspect is tenacity—never giving up, persevering even when faced with difficulties. In my experience, I’ve encountered numerous failures and moments where giving up seemed like the only option. However, by persisting through these challenges, I’ve witnessed something greater emerge. Maintaining this determination, especially as an entrepreneur, is essential. Life is full of challenges, and nothing is guaranteed to be easy. However, the rewards of perseverance make the effort worthwhile. So, it’s important to invest the necessary time and effort to overcome obstacles and achieve our goals.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I believe self-improvement is incredibly important, and over the last 12 months, I’ve learned numerous valuable lessons. One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is the importance of the people within your circle as you navigate through life. It’s crucial to be discerning and selective about who you allow into your inner circle. Being genuine and authentic and surrounding yourself with individuals who reciprocate these qualities is essential because being with those who aren’t genuine can lead to significant hurt.
Another crucial lesson I’ve learned, which I believe applies to everyone, is the importance of relying on your support system and focusing on your own self-improvement rather than comparing yourself to others. By prioritizing personal growth and concentrating on becoming the best version of myself, I’ve found that success comes much more naturally. There have been numerous instances in my life where shifting my focus from others to myself has led to substantial personal development and growth.
