Meet Beneon Bizuneh

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Beneon Bizuneh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Beneon, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
The way I see it purpose isn’t necessarily something you find. Purpose much like hope is something you give yourself, through the self introspection done in order to pervade through my trials and tribulations I stumbled upon this personal truth. Finding one’s purpose is not about discovering some preordained destiny waiting to be uncovered, but rather about embracing the freedom to choose our own path. In a world devoid of intrinsic purpose, we are liberated from the constraints of fate and empowered to define our own meaning. This process of self-discovery involves cultivating heightened awareness of our passions, values, and desires. By exploring our interests, reflecting on our experiences, and engaging in introspection, we gain insight into what truly matters to us. Purpose emerges not as a fixed destination, but as a fluid and evolving expression of our authentic selves. It is through this journey of self-discovery and conscious choice that we uncover our purpose and forge a path aligned with our deepest aspirations.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Beneon Bizuneh, a 23-year-old Barber and software developer. Currently, I’m dedicated to creating the first subscription-based barbershop, where I merge my passion for technology with barbering to offer affordable haircuts for my local community while ensuring a profitable business model. Additionally, I founded BeamTeam, a brand aimed at inspiring young artists and entrepreneurs forging their paths in their chosen fields. Born and raised in Ethiopia, I harbor a long-term dream of returning to contribute to my homeland, utilizing my innovative skills and resources to make a positive impact.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my journey, I believe that curiosity, communication, and self-reflection have been the most impactful qualities and skills. My advice for those early in their journey is to embrace curiosity by continuously seeking to learn and explore new ideas, industries, and perspectives. Stay curious about the world around you and never stop asking questions. Communication is also crucial – practice expressing your thoughts, ideas, and vision clearly and effectively, whether it’s through verbal communication, writing, or other forms of expression. Lastly, prioritize self-reflection to gain deeper insights into your strengths, weaknesses, and values. Take time to assess your experiences, learn from them, and use that knowledge to guide your decisions and actions moving forward. By developing and honing these qualities and skills, you’ll not only navigate your journey more effectively but also set yourself up for long-term success and fulfillment.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle has been a transformative book in my personal development journey. It provided me with invaluable insights into understanding my emotions, transcending my conditioned mind, and embracing the profound significance of living fully in the present moment. One of the most impactful nuggets of wisdom from the book is the concept of “presence” – the idea that true liberation and inner peace can be found by shifting our focus away from past regrets and future anxieties, and instead immersing ourselves completely in the present moment. Tolle’s teachings on mindfulness and the power of awareness have helped me cultivate a deeper sense of inner calm, clarity, and authenticity, guiding me towards a more fulfilling and purposeful way of life
