We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie & Ryan Bloom recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie & Ryan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Ryan Bloom’s work ethic can be traced back to his upbringing in a divorced home. Growing up, he witnessed firsthand how hard his mother had to work to provide for their family in that environment. Seeing her dedication and determination to overcome challenges instilled in Ryan a strong sense of responsibility and a drive to work hard.
On the other hand, Stephanie Bloom, being the daughter of an executive leader for a large manufacturing company, had the privilege of observing her father’s example. From an early age, she witnessed his work ethic and the rewards that came with it. Her father’s success and the values he embodied, such as diligence, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence, left a lasting impression on Stephanie.
When Ryan and Stephanie came together, they brought their individual experiences and perspectives, which allowed them to learn from one another and build upon their respective work ethics. Ryan’s firsthand experience of overcoming challenges and Stephanie’s exposure to her father’s leadership and success merged to form a unique blend of resilience, ambition, and a strong work ethic.
The combination of Ryan’s understanding of hard work as a necessity and Stephanie’s exposure to a successful role model provided them with a strong foundation for their work ethic. They shared stories, insights, and strategies, helping each other navigate obstacles and push beyond their limits.
Over time, Ryan and Stephanie’s work ethic evolved and became a product of their collective experiences and shared values. They learned to persevere through difficulties, stay focused on their goals, and strive for continuous improvement. Their work ethic is rooted in the understanding that hard work, determination, and learning from one another’s experiences are essential ingredients for achieving personal and professional success.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We are Stephanie and Ryan Bloom, a husband and wife team that loves working together. Stephanie handles the Photography and Ryan takes care of the Videography, but we each know just enough of each other’s business to lend a hand when needed. In what little spare time he had, Ryan started filming weddings a little over 10 years ago.
After Stephanie experienced working at a wedding, she had the itch to pursue the Photography side. And we’ve been working together ever since. The two of us strive to bring composure and a light-hearted attitude to every wedding we work at. Our ultimate goal is to display the personalities of our bride and groom.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Never stop learning: One of the most crucial aspects of personal and professional growth is the willingness to continuously learn and acquire new knowledge. In today’s fast-paced world, where information and technology are constantly evolving, it is essential to stay curious and embrace a lifelong learning mindset. Whether through formal education, online courses, books, or even seeking mentorship, investing in your own learning will open doors to new opportunities and help you stay ahead in your chosen field. My advice to those starting their journey is to prioritize learning, be proactive in seeking out knowledge, and be open to exploring different subjects and perspectives.
Network as frequently as possible: Building a strong network is invaluable in any career or personal endeavor. Connecting with like-minded individuals, industry professionals, mentors, and peers can provide opportunities for collaboration, support, and valuable insights. Attend networking events, join professional organizations, engage in online communities, and actively seek opportunities to meet new people. Remember, networking is not just about what others can do for you, but also about how you can contribute to their success. Be genuine, show interest in others, and be willing to offer help and support. Networking is a two-way street, and fostering authentic relationships will help you throughout your journey.
Provide value to those around you: Regardless of where you are in your journey, always strive to provide value to those around you. Whether it’s your colleagues, clients, or the community you serve, focus on understanding their needs and finding ways to contribute positively. This could be through sharing your knowledge, offering assistance, solving problems, or simply being a reliable and supportive team member. By consistently delivering value, you build a reputation as someone dependable and capable, which can open doors to new opportunities and help you forge meaningful connections. Remember, success is often a byproduct of the value you create for others.
For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to be intentional about developing and improving these qualities:
Embrace a growth mindset: Adopt a mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth and believes in the potential to learn and improve. Embrace failure as a stepping stone to success and maintain a positive attitude in the face of obstacles.
Seek feedback: Actively seek feedback from mentors, peers, and supervisors. Constructive criticism can provide valuable insights into areas where you can improve and help you refine your skills and knowledge.
Take initiative: Be proactive in seeking out opportunities to learn, network, and provide value. Don’t wait for things to happen; take the initiative to create your own path and make things happen.
Emphasize communication skills: Develop strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Effective communication is essential in building relationships, conveying ideas, and collaborating with others.
Cultivate resilience: Understand that setbacks and challenges are a natural part of the journey. Cultivate resilience and the ability to bounce back from failures or disappointments. Learn from setbacks, adapt, and keep moving forward.
Remember, success is a journey, and it’s important to enjoy the process, stay committed to your goals, and be adaptable as you navigate the ever-changing landscape of your chosen path.
