We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dayna Tames a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dayna , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I value a strong work ethic & consistently strive to exceed standards & expectations. I believe in showing up & giving my absolute best each time I approach a task. Coming from a like-minded family, this trait has developed naturally for me & is something I’ve worked to sharpen over the years. As a business owner, I understand that hard work isn’t only morally beneficial but a necessary component of success.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the owner and Director of Education at Tameless Lash Artistry Studios & Academy in Scottsdale, AZ & Boise, ID. I’m a licensed cosmetologist, multi-award-winning lash artist, educator, & internationally accredited eyelash extension championship judge. As of June 2023, I’ve won fourteen eyelash extension championships at national & international levels & have earned over ten lash extension certifications from around the world. I began teaching my craft to elevate the lash industry & believe that great lash artists should be the rule… not the exception. My company is also partnered with one of the USA’s largest lash brands to offer our students the absolute highest standard of eyelash extension education available. I’m passionate about every aspect of lashing, from the fundamentals to advanced artistry & genuinely love the industry! I couldn’t be happier to share that love through my artwork and education.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My advice is to remain a student. Continuing education & the willingness to learn & accept new ideas have been essential in developing my skill set. Investing in myself & career by means of mentorship & regular schooling has created opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is essentially a code of conduct that advocates freedom from self limiting beliefs. The Four Agreements are: Be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions & always do your best. I believe adhering to these principles can dramatically impact the happiness one feels in life, regardless of external circumstances.
