We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shaynie Rhoads. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shaynie below.
Hi Shaynie, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I exercise daily, eat a meticulous diet and drink tons of water. I especially love weightlifting! It gives me the strength and mental clarity I need to feel like my best self. The industry in which I operate is already so physically and emotionally demanding, so I do my best to live a balanced lifestyle when I’m not staying out late playing shows, running around crowded places and shouting over loud music.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a musician and I front a rock band from Oceanside! We play a lot of hard rock and heavy metal, with some pop and punk influence. Think Britney Spears meets Metallica. I call it pink metal.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most
Patience. Remember that nothing happens overnight. Discipline— stay consistent, follow through. And confidence! Don’t allow anyone to take that away from you.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
I’m in the process of recording my next single, and I’ve got a lot of old habits from my years as a music student that surface when I’m tracking in the studio. My producer will say, “This isn’t classical music. You don’t have to say all your s’s and t’s like that.” Coming out of that world, you get used to doing everything a certain way, or at least being expected to. I’m learning to let go of that mindset and try new things when I can. This is rock ‘n’ roll, after all!
