Meet Dana El Masri

We recently connected with Dana El Masri and have shared our conversation below.

Dana, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My mother and being an immigrant. Rest and resilience is key.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a perfumer and interdisciplinary artist. I went to perfume school about fourteen years ago, and my brand, Jazmin Saraï, just turned ten! My work focuses on the connections between scent, art, sound, and culture. Honest and accurate representation through multisensory storytelling is important to connect with others.

I recently moved to Los Angeles and have scented postcards to mark the occasion, plus several more offerings throughout the year!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Passion, intentionality and perseverance.

Love for your craft with a passion that ignites your ideas and actions is imperative.

Intentionality, especially these days, means that you have a purpose, care about others, and are careful with what you put out there.

Perseverance because working with your creativity in business is challenging, and you need it every step of the way.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Ideally, find a person who understands the business and financial side of it all. As a creative, it can be challenging to put on all the hats, and continue to focus on profitability etc…
