Meet Vanessa Grutman

We recently connected with Vanessa Grutman and have shared our conversation below.

Vanessa, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Thank you for having me, I’m excited for this conversation. Interestingly, I have never felt different because of my race or gender but rather for my ideas or point of view. Even when younger, my ideas would be unique and I was interested in different things than friends around me. It felt bizarre and so I quickly started thinking there was something wrong with me and wore the mask of pretending to fit in. I became a chameleon with no strong opinion to blend amongst others.

Fast forward to my adult life, my body literally started shutting down from living a life where I became a shell of myself and was not feeling safe to express my opinions, ideas and thoughts fully. It took a full burnout, a complete body shut down and for me being on the ground to realize that this unique way of thinking and seeing life was in fact a gift. That I couldn’t continue operating like I had been and that my true identity was ready to emerge and be seen. The masks were ready to come down to reveal my real nature.

Since I have learned to embrace my uncommon point of view about health, healing, doing business without hustling, embracing our soul’s calling and the importance of sharing it even when everyone thinks I’m crazy. If there’s one thing I got to witness, it’s that when we speak our truth, it will inevitably create a ripple in the world.

I also quickly realized that I needed to trust myself above all. That self-love and honouring my “why” were my grounding forces and that by connecting with this daily, I could remember my impact in this lifetime and make it my mission above all. From there, the need to fit in, to be seen or loved by everyone slowly dissipated.

Now, I never underestimate the power of planting a seed. I voice my opinion unapologetically while continuing to walk my path with the highest standards possible. It’s quite extraordinary what can happen from that place.

I’m honoured to be supporting high-achieving women on this exact journey of remembering their truth and their power. On this healing journey of shedding their old masks and learning who they are and what their soul is calling them to do. This work will then reveal a newfound energy and a deep motivation for life. Imagine building a brand or a business from that place of truth and authenticity, rather than a place of people-pleasing and hustle.

Now I know I needed to go on this journey of loosing all energy, purpose and vitality to realize the importance of healing our body, mind and soul to rise with more ease and grace. I needed to walk this path to then become in a better position to teach it back and guide women back to themselves. It’s such an honour!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Absolutely. My story is similar than most in the way that I had to hit rock bottom to awaken to my gifts and soften into life.

I’m a Certified Integrated Health Practitioner, Kinesiologist and successful entrepreneur dedicated to supporting women in reclaiming their energy and reconnecting with their true innate power for infinite abundance.

While always being passionate for health, I spent the last decade building a successful 7-figure business in the skin health industry. I sold and exited this business in 2023 and am now fully dedicated to my coaching practice, which grew exponentially, reaching close to 7 figures in its first 12 months of life.

I walked through my first experience as an entrepreneur deeply rooted in my masculine energy, fuelled in hustling, wanting to be busy, hitting big goals and crushing my daily to-do list, despite birthing 2 children. It definitely worked, until it didn’t. After spending thousands of dollars on biohacking tips & tricks and trying to «fix» myself, I realized I had to take responsibility for my own healing and decided to get certified as a health coach.

Through this work, I reconnected with my body, my worth, the limiting stories I had been believing about myself and my emotions. This allowed me to not only heal from burnout but like a phoenix, rise from the ashes.

I am now devoted to showing women how to get away from the trap of hustle to re-align their life’s purpose with their unique gifts and create a life of abundance with more flow. As a strong brand builder, I understand the power that personal branding and online presence plays in magnetizing with ease ideal clients and building an authentic business that brings financial abundance.

My unique coaching approach encompasses my decade of experience as an entrepreneur, team leader, spiritual junkie, biohacker and holistic health guru to help my clients not only heal but transform deeply. This unique way of coaching got me to be awarded Coach of the Year in 2023 by l’Académie Altitude.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Entrepreneurship is a true personal development journey. It will stretch you in unsuspected places within yourself and show you the sides of you that you have been resisting or avoiding. It looks easy from the outside but it’s truly not for everyone.

What I’ve come to realize made me successful at it was firstly my courage. To dare doing things differently, to dare failing, to dare being seen.

Then I believe it’s crucial to be clear on our why. To have a strong conviction on the impact we want to have on others. How can we serve and help and why does it matter for us, for others and for the collective. The truth is some days, you will want to leave it all and on those days, your why is the only thing that can pull you back in.

Lastly I think self-compassion, self-trust and self-love is critical. This journey must become our very own journey of truth. We have to do it for us, not for anyone else. For that to be successful, it is imperative to remember our worth as it is the ultimate foundation for evolution and success in my opinion.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is a high-achieving woman. One who already is successful and is known to be doing it all. One that people say “I don’t know how she does it”.

She’s my ideal client because that was me. And the truth is I learned the hard way that it’s not sustainable. That it works for a while until it doesn’t. We can’t possibly operate at such a pace and expect to be healthy and age gracefully. Something has to give.

I’m here to help this woman find herself again. Heal and rest so she can take a breath and reconnect with who she really is and what she wants in her life. Often she’s been so busy that she has no idea what she wants.

I will show her how to rebuild her foundation so she can achieve higher levels of success with more flow and less grinding. I will help her reclaim her lifeforce energy which often comes from removing what has been draining her. It’s such an exquisite process.

I always say that your ideal client is the version of you from a 1-2 years ago. Don’t look any farther!
