Kelly, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
In my life, I’ve often found myself in situations where I’m the only one in the room who looks like me, and it’s been a journey of resilience and self-discovery. Despite being counted out and not on anyone’s radar numerous times, I’ve learned to thrive in such environments by focusing on my strengths and unique perspectives. Instead of allowing external perceptions to dictate my worth, I’ve embraced my individuality and leveraged it as a strength. Through determination and perseverance, I’ve cultivated the confidence to speak up and make my voice heard, even in the absence of familiar faces.
This ability to stand out and be effective, regardless of the circumstances, has not only fueled my personal success but has also enabled me to contribute meaningfully to diverse teams and environments.

As a music producer, my craft revolves around capturing and translating the vision that artists strive to convey through their music. What excites me most about my work is the creative collaboration and the ability to bring someone else’s musical vision to life.
It’s not just about technical expertise; it’s about fostering a deep connection with the artist, understanding their unique style, and earning their trust to co-create something truly exceptional.
The process of producing music is a delicate balance of listening, understanding, and collaboration. It requires keen attention to detail and a genuine passion for music.
What sets my approach apart is my commitment to creating a collaborative environment where the artist feels empowered to express themselves freely, knowing that their vision will be respected and enhanced.In terms of what’s new, I’m constantly exploring innovative techniques and staying up-to-date with the latest trends in music production.
Whether it’s experimenting with new sounds, refining my skills, or expanding my network within the music industry, I’m always striving to push the boundaries of creativity and deliver the best possible results for my clients.
Ultimately, my goal as a music producer is to not only deliver exceptional sound but also to create an experience that resonates deeply with both the artist and the audience. I’m passionate about helping artists realize their creative potential and achieve their musical goals, and I’m committed to continuously evolving and refining my craft to deliver excellence in every project.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities that have been immensely impactful are resilience, communication, and empathy.
Resilience: Learning how to navigate setbacks and challenges without becoming overwhelmed or discouraged is crucial. To develop resilience, it’s important to cultivate a growth mindset and view obstacles as opportunities for learning and growth.
Practice self-care techniques such as mindfulness, exercise, and maintaining a strong support network to build emotional resilience and cope effectively with stress.
Communication: The ability to ask the hard questions and communicate effectively is essential in any journey.
Develop strong communication skills by actively listening, asking clarifying questions, and expressing yourself clearly and confidently.
Practice empathy in your communication by seeking to understand others’ perspectives and demonstrating genuine care and concern for their experiences.
Empathy: Walking in someone else’s shoes allows for deeper connections and fosters a more inclusive and understanding environment.
Cultivate empathy by actively seeking out diverse perspectives, engaging in open-minded conversations, and practicing active listening without judgment.
Recognize the value of empathy in building strong relationships and creating positive impact in both personal and professional endeavors.For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to prioritize personal growth and development in these three areas. Seek out opportunities to challenge yourself, whether it’s through taking on new responsibilities, seeking feedback, or stepping outside of your comfort zone.
