Chelsea , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Don’t we all wish that we could be born with confidence and self-esteem?
I truly don’t remember a time that I didn’t feel naturally confident, not because I was born this way, but because it was instilled from birth. Growing up, my parents consistently encouraged me to believe in myself and taught me that I could do anything I set my mind to. Although those statements are just words, they built a firm foundation on my personal beliefs and allowed me to establish a healthy relationship with myself.
As I grew older, I realized that self-esteem came from authenticity, honesty, and resilience. Although mantras and positive self-talk are great, they don’t grow your self-confidence. You gain self-esteem by having an undeniable stack of proof that you are who you say you are, in other words, confidence stems from honoring the promises you make to yourself. When you consistently follow through on your commitments, whether small daily goals or larger aspirations, you build a sense of trust and reliability within yourself. This practice reinforces your self-esteem and confidence, as you demonstrate your capability to achieve what you set out to do. It’s like laying bricks for a strong foundation of self-assurance, one promise fulfilled at a time.
When you embrace your core identity with confidence, navigating life becomes considerably smoother. This self-knowledge has empowered me to pursue my aspirations, regardless of any self doubts.

Spiked Social is a digital and social media marketing firm. This business was born years before it launched. I had always had a natural talent for storytelling and a love for detail, but I followed the path of medicine. I enjoyed my job in healthcare, but always felt pulled into a more creative path. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my first child, in the midst of covid, that I decided to live bravely and take a major leap of faith. I launched Spiked Social 27 weeks pregnant and never looked back. This career not only allows me to be a storyteller for beautiful brands, but fosters genuine connections with the individuals behind them. Believing in myself has been crucial for my business. If I had ignored that inner voice, I would’ve shut the door on living this dream today! Trusting yourself and having confidence in your choices are key when it comes to building a business.
My advice for others starting out is to allow yourself to find peace and listen to the guidance that God has placed on your heart. Embrace your true identity with assurance, knowing that you’re capable of achieving anything you set your mind to. I stand as living proof of this belief.
