Meet Marije Luna Oosting

We recently connected with Marije Luna Oosting and have shared our conversation below.

Marije, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing confidence and self-esteem has been a journey for me, and it hasn’t always been easy. I was bullied until I was 16, which had a significant impact on my self-worth and how I saw myself. It was difficult to believe in myself or feel good enough. Even now, I still struggle with it at times and have moments where I feel weak and start doubting myself. However, I’ve learned that it’s important to focus on the positive and surround myself with people who lift me up. My husband has been a huge support system for me, reminding me of my worth and encouraging me to believe in myself. It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve come a long way in learning to love and accept myself for who I am.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a Dutch singer who is based in Switzerland. Last year, I was blessed to become a mother to my beautiful baby daughter. My journey with music started at a very young age; I had my first concert when I was just 6 years old, and two years later, I wrote my first song. Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a deep passion for music, and I dreamt of making it a part of my everyday life. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to pursue my passion as a career and to share my love for music with the world. I have had the opportunity to participate in various reality shows. While I am grateful for these experiences, my true passion lies in my music. It is where I find my voice and where I can truly express myself creatively. The stage is where I feel most at home, and I put everything I have into my performances.

My life hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had my fair share of struggles with depression, eating disorders, and self-esteem. However, through it all, music has been my rock. I’ve always used it as a way to express myself and cope with my emotions. I pour my heart and soul into my songs, and I believe that’s why people can relate to them. I have a passion for all types of music, but at the moment, I am focusing on pop and electropop. I always strive to create music that is true to myself and my own unique style. I believe that when you do what you feel, the end result is always something that is authentic and genuine.

I am super excited about my new single “Toxic Love”, an electrifying electro-pop song that delves into the complexities and struggles of modern relationships. At its core, the song speaks to the bittersweet nature of love – the intoxicating allure that pulls us in, even when we know it may not be good for us.
With a pulsing beat and infectious pop hooks, “Toxic Love” captures the experience of being deeply entangled in a relationship that is both exhilarating and destructive. It’s a song that explores the contradictions and challenges of love, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with it.
As the writer and performer of “Toxic Love”, I am excited to share this powerful and relatable song with my fans. I believe it has the potential to resonate with anyone who has experienced the ups and downs of a tumultuous relationship.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Perseverance: The music industry can be tough, and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to make it as a singer. I’ve learned that perseverance is key to success. Whenever I faced rejections or setbacks, I kept pushing forward and working on my craft.

2. Creativity: Being able to think outside the box and come up with unique ideas has helped me to stand out in a crowded industry and create music that truly reflects my individual voice and vision.

3. Believing in yourself: It’s important to have confidence in your talent and abilities. Believing in yourself and your potential can help you overcome obstacles and stay motivated on your journey.
For those who are early in their journey as a singer, my advice would be to focus on honing these qualities and areas of knowledge. Keep pushing yourself to improve, never stop learning, and always stay true to your own creative vision. Surround yourself with supportive people who believe

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
As a full-time mom to a 15-month-old girl and singer who works almost every day, my baby is my number one priority, and I am dedicated to being the best mother I can be for her. I understand how challenging it can be to balance work and motherhood. My biggest challenge currently is finding ways to manage my time effectively and still be present for my daughter. To overcome this challenge, I have developed a routine that allows me to work when my daughter is sleeping or occupied with activities. I prioritize my work during these times to ensure that I am making the most of the time I have available. I also try to stay organized and plan my schedule in advance to avoid last-minute stress. In addition, I have found ways to incorporate my daughter into my work life. For example, I bring her with me to photoshoots or recording sessions, since everyone on the team is super easy and flexible. This allows me to be present for her while still pursuing my career.

I understand the importance of providing for her basic needs, but I also believe that being a good parent goes beyond that. It means being there for her emotionally and mentally, supporting her through life’s ups and downs, and being a positive role model. I am determined to be present for every milestone, from first words to first steps and beyond, and to create a strong and loving bond with my daughter. Pursuing my career as a singer is important to me, but it will never come at the cost of neglecting my responsibilities as a mother. I am committed to finding a balance between my personal aspirations and my role as a parent, and I am confident that I can do both successfully.

I understand that this is not an easy path, but I believe in my ability to make it work. As a mom and a singer, I am passionate about both roles and am committed to finding a way to balance them both. I know that with persistence, patience, and creativity, I can overcome this challenge and continue to pursue my dreams while also being there for my daughter.
