We were lucky to catch up with Talita Maia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Talita, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My parents and grandparents were among the most altruistic individuals I’ve known. Let me start with my dad. He lost his mom when he was just 3 years old, and his dad struggled with alcoholism. Despite having several siblings, my dad had no choice but to take on a parental role and help raise them. He began working at the age of 12 and later became a successful entrepreneur, supporting not only his own family but also many others in need. My Grandpa on my mother’s side was a dentist and melted all inherited gold he had as well as the the gifted ones to my grandma with her approval to make gold crows for people that couldn’t afford. My Mother and my grandmother always made sure we would feed ones in need at least once a month and donate the clothes we weren’t using every 3 months orphenages. So basically i had the best example in family which sometimes made me naive and a about the world out there and a target for people saw an opportunity to take advantage but ultimately made me a better human being despite anything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a television and film actor, as well as an independent filmmaker. I have written, produced, directed, and starred in my own short films, and I am eager to transition into the feature film world. I have several projects in development and am actively seeking the right producing partners to bring them to life. Additionally, I direct and produce music videos, live streams, and branding content.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As a filmmaker, it was important to me to gain comprehensive knowledge across all aspects of the industry. I took classes in grip and electric (G&E), worked at a post-production house, served as a 1st Assistant Director (1st AD), and extensively studied cameras and lenses to enhance my understanding of composition before shooting. In addition to my over a decade of experience as a working actor, listening to those who knew more than me was crucial.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m constantly looking to collaborate with like-minded individuals who have compelling stories to share. Currently, I’m focused on partnering with producers and potentially directing scripts in the romance or psychological thriller genres. However, I’m open to any captivating story regardless of genre.
