Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela Crawford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angela , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I believe God has shown me my heart from a very young age. I’ve never questioned my desire to help and loves others. it has always felt right, For me nursing was the only answer. It was a career that would allow me to give back to others and to comfort those who needed it most. Throughout my nursing career I saw how patients didn’t always have a voice or others to advocate for them. I decided to continue my education so that I could better advocate for the treatment that patients need and deserve.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I reached a point in my career where I was tired of feeling expendable and I decided it was time to bet on myself. My practice is SelfWell. At SelfWell I offer medical weight-loss through telehealth. I never thought that weight-loss could be so rewarding but, it has been a pleasure and honor to watch my patients reach their goals and to become healthier all the way around. SelfWell is now expanding and now offering mobile Rehab Services. We offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. I think that our mobile rehab is going to be a game changer and extremely special. Many patients are not getting the therapy that they need at home. They’re limited in the amount of visits that they can receive which is hindering their overall progression and health. My greatest goal as a provider is to make sure that all my patients feel seen and heard. I believe that SelfWell has provided me the opportunity to achieve that goal.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that have been most beneficial to me as an entrepreneur are ambition, optimism, and good communication skills. I believe that ambition is important because as an entrepreneur you have to push yourself every day. When you are creating this new opportunity it is sink or swim. If you fail you only hurt yourself. Entrepreneurship is hard so you have to be willing to fight every single day. You have to be willing to get back up when there are setbacks. You have to believe in yourself when nobody else will. I believe that optimism is important because there will be days where you don’t know what you’re doing or why you are doing them. There will be many occasions when your dream doesn’t seem tangible. You have to believe that this path was placed before you for a reason. I believe that communication skills have been very helpful to me in this process because I have met several wonderful people and assets by simply communicating and talking about my dream. Speaking life and communicating your dream to others will open doors for you that you didn’t even know existed.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most important thing my parents did for me as a child was encouraged me to be myself. They love that I was a free-spirit, freethinker, and moved to the beat of my own drum. From an early age they spoke love into me. They always told me that I was special. Because of them I am special. Because of them I’m a confident woman. Because of them there is nothing that scares me. Because of them I know that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to and I’ll never question it.
