We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victor Gelsomino a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Victor with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is deeply influenced by the example set by my father. He instilled in me the value of hard work and dedication through his own unwavering commitment throughout his life. Though he passed away in 2019, his legacy continues to inspire me to uphold high standards of diligence and perseverance in everything I do. Keeping his memory alive serves as a constant reminder of the importance of diligence, integrity, and dedication in both personal and professional endeavors.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a filmmaker passionate about indie horror and action genres, constantly striving to bring my unique vision to the screen. My latest project, ‘Death Merchant,’ is an electrifying action film featuring the talents of the late Tom Sizemore and Robert LaSardo. With a focus on delivering thrilling and immersive experiences, I aim to keep audiences on the edge of their seats with gripping storytelling and intense action sequences. ‘Death Merchant’ is a testament to my dedication to pushing the boundaries of independent cinema and offering viewers an unforgettable cinematic journey!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Persistence: Stay committed to your goals despite challenges and failures. Learn from setbacks and keep moving forward.
Creativity: Embrace innovation and originality in storytelling, filmmaking techniques, and visual style. Explore, experiment, and take creative risks.
Networking: Build relationships with industry professionals for opportunities, collaborations, and mentorship. Attend events, engage online, and nurture genuine connections.
My advice to those early in their journey is to cultivate these qualities and skills, as they can significantly contribute to long-term success and fulfillment in the industry. Keep pushing boundaries, stay true to your vision, and never underestimate the power of building meaningful connections within the filmmaking community.
