meet Heidi Wilson

We were lucky to catch up with Heidi Wilson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Heidi, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Over the years, I have nurtured a deep respect, gratitude, and loving relationship with my body and have developed a practice of napping with the intention of dropping in to stillness and resetting my nervous system. I call these naps “fluid naps” because I am settling into my “Fluid Body”- the coherence of all the waters/fluids of my body; a concept known about in teh biodynamic craniosacral world. This practice helps me quickly recharge and feel present and connected to Source.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have been practicing craniosacral work for thirty years and have been teaching this modality for almost twenty years. I currently teach a six level series of workshops called “Riding the Wave, Touching Stillness; Craniosacral Work with a Biodynamic Perspective” in Tucson and Flagstaff Arizona. I am honored to attempt to transmit the knowledge that I have aquired through experience with this work which I perceive as a sacred and beautiful art. The work is about helping people feel whole and connected to Self, others, and Nature. In the process of learning- giving and receiving the work, we go through a healing journey.

I offer continuing education credits to massage therapists for each class. I also offer an option for certification by me for those who are interested but that is not a requirement for taking the classes. Schedule information is on my website at www.heidiwilsonfluidhealing.com. I am starting a new cycle (level one) in Flagstaff May 17-19. The next level one in Tucosn is September 20-22, 2024.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities that have helped me really be able to connect with and be successful in my craniosacral practice are patience, stillness, curiosity, and love. I feel that my background and current practice of music and dance have contributed greatly in nourishing my soul. Also years of tai chi and meditation are also practices that have enabled me to hold the “space” for my clients in craniosacral work. Understanding that we ARE Nature- not separate from Nature as we have been taught in this colonial-conscious culture that most of us have grown up in, has been essential and liberating to acknowledge.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I am grateful to my parents for having the wisdom to create an atmosphere of acceptance for our (me and my three sisters) individual gifts. I have a twin sister who was a straight A student who excelled in acedemics. I, on the other hand was more of a B-C student but my parents would ackowledge that I was creative and artistic. This I feel empowered me to value and develop those aspects.
