Channing, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I discovered my purpose when I realized that being an artist is a unique talent bestowed upon me to create for others and express myself. Spending most of my twenties in corporate roles took a toll on my health, prompting the need for a change. A medical professional pointed out that stress was a significant factor in my health issues. I hadn’t realized the detrimental impact of unhappiness in a job where I felt out of place on my well-being. Determined to take control and transform my life, I made the decision to pursue a different path. This transition proved to be beneficial as I not only excelled in painting but also discovered my aptitude for tattoo artistry. Since 2015, I have been on a fulfilling journey as a tattoo artist, continuously thriving in this field.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a creative individual who finds joy in engaging in various art forms, with tattooing being my favorite. Tattooing is a deeply personal and spiritual journey that involves transferring energy and forming a connection between the client’s and my own energy. This mystical ritual combines imagery, life force, and spiritual bonding.

I truly believe that tattoos have the power to elevate one’s energy and boost confidence by revealing what has been hidden. During the tattooing process, I also strive to remove any lingering negative energy from previous tattoos, leaving my clients feeling refreshed and positive.

Operating from a private studio allows me to create a nurturing environment for my clients, facilitating healing and boosting self-esteem through energy restoration. I take pride in helping clients feel better about themselves, such as covering tattoos they are self-conscious about, ultimately enhancing their confidence and well-being.

Currently, I am developing two distinct painting series titled the “Ascended Masters” and the “Chaos Series.” Prints of these artworks will be available for purchase on my website very soon. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The combination of drive, determination, willpower, and discipline is essential in accomplishing life goals. Embarking on my artistic journey later in life has been a source of gratitude, as many only discover their passion when it’s too late. Despite facing obstacles, I set a goal and remained committed to it. Growing up as an artist and focusing solely on art classes in school has deepened my understanding of tattooing, particularly influenced by oil painting, which reflects in my tattoo style.

Being a perfectionist in my artwork from a young age has significantly shaped my career as a tattoo artist. Precision is paramount in tattooing, where mistakes are permanent. It is a privilege to leave lasting artwork on my clients, for which I am deeply thankful. For those pursuing a career they are passionate about, I encourage them to stay motivated and persistent, never losing sight of their dreams.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

The client I envision is one who values artistry and understands that tattooing is a meticulous process that demands patience and trust, particularly in cover-up projects. I enjoy engaging with my clients to brainstorm design concepts and craft something bespoke and distinctive for each individual. I never replicate the same custom design unless requested for matching tattoos among close friends or family. Otherwise, each design is exclusive and tailored to the unique essence of every individual.
