Ricardo, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from the desire to move forward with good work and life. Sometimes we can even get discouraged in the face of an adverse situation that life presents, but we need to have strength, faith and believe that it is possible to get there. It’s so important to keep faith, stay calm, look for new strategies to get to where we want to be, whether at work, in our personal life, in love, in our family. We can never give up. Optimism is necessary, always…
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a Journalist, I have a website called Revista de Cultura, the name is in Portuguese and means culture magazine in English.
The site has been online since 2009 and I publish events, news, shows and interviews daily.
It’s really cool to promote culture and welcome readers from different parts of the world, literally.
I recently created a website profile on Instagram @revistadecultura.
I also do comedy shows, stand-up comedy, characters and impersonations. It’s gratifying to make people happy on stage, to see that some came from other cities to watch the show. I really enjoy what I do, whether writing or on stage with comedy shows…
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The most important qualities, which were essential in my life: perseverance and effort until I achieve success.
You know, people often see our lives and think that it was easy to get to a certain place in life, in love, in business and there is no magic, like we see in the movies, where the person says a magic word: shazam! and everything is ready (laughs). In life we need to persist to achieve our goals and dreams.
To be a Journalist I had to study 4 years at a college, to do comedy shows I took a theater course, everything has a path to follow. It’s not easy, but when we have something in our heart that calls us to walk in that direction and if it’s something good, we must go ahead.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
A book that was important as a child, that in a way, encouraged me to want to write a book were the stories of Sitio do Pica-pau Amarelo, by Monteiro Lobato, a great Brazilian writer.
Reading it, I wanted to publish a book and as an adult I managed to do that. I have a book published, where I tell my adventures as a draftsman, adventures I lived to personally deliver drawings and caricatures to celebrities.
